Gladys Knight showcased these ladies in a big way. It appeared to me that she allowed them to shine. She knows she doesn't have to prove anything. She is the Queen with a capital Q. In my opinion, Jessica Simpson held her own, considering that soul music is not her repertoire. Joss Stone is a natural soul artist. I love this performance of the three of them. I saw it live on TV and I'm glad I can watch it here over and over!

Jessica was such a phenomenal talent, it’s amazing to see her up there with Gladys knight you really see the full talent and ability of her vocal, amazing. I saw this on the original broadcast long ago and remember thinking what a class act Gladys always was and is. Joss Stone seemed so grateful to be on the same stage with her. Then Jessica Simpson comes out and all was lost. She tried to out sing and out do. I’m very surprised the producer/director did t caution her on that. But… maybe he/she did and Jessica shot for the moon anyway.🤷♂️

I just find how silly and dumb the comments are here about Jessica Simpson, saying a lot of unkind words about her only because she is beautiful! So beautiful than any of their favorite artists. Why do we need to compare these artists and play them against each other. They each have their own voice, tone, range and talent. Wish they would have allowed Gladys to perform the entire segment, those other gurls sounded like mere imitations of soul music and their voices was annoying and harsh on the ears. Joss's monotone voice sounded depressive; she tries too hard, she appears to be somewhat of an impersonator. Gladys voice sounded soulfully rich, natural, organic and heartfelt -- 'aint nothing like the real thing sweet pea!
Jessica sounds sloppy singing with Gladys on Midnight Train. The Way We Were may have been better for her. She sounds like she's trying to sing with some ugly southern accent.
