He picked up his accent from his parents and learned how to mask it to fit in at school. Also, speaking Taglish is different from speaking straight English. In a way, it requires the accent, otherwise it’s hard/sounds awkward to flip back and forth. So it’s a natural accent, just not as thick as someone who grew up speaking Tagalog.
