It is a shame we didn't have the internet and fine people like you to teach us these things 40 years ago when I was a kid and had to deal with crappy instruments! Am an old fart now, but you are teaching me how to fix and maintain them, and helping the next generation! You are awesome Sean! Merry Christmas bro! 🎅👍
yep all musicians should know how to maintain there guitar like owning a car you need to know how to change the oil and filter and the spark plugs good job .love the zip tie trick very informative .ya got my subscription
I recently upgraded a Fender Squire Pbass with all new pots and pickup. I want to say your ground wire technique is pure genius. Makes everything so neat, I even took some of it apart thinking "it can't be right. Too simple", then put it back like I had the first time (your way), and it worked perfectly. Thanks for such a simple approach. I'll be using it all the time.
I totally agree. With where these come from the wood still has moisture content and as they dry out that is when you get sharp ends poking past the fretboard and frets rising out of their slot. My bass had been setting for a while and as I started to clean the fret board upon checking them practically everyone of them needed a slight tapping. I will try to keep it humidified since I live in the southwest U.S.
I picked up a no name Precision bass clone from Wish.com a few months back for $59. I'm planning to mod it by adding a Jazz bass pickup. Doesn't sound bad as is, I just wanna experiment!
I just bought one of these, so I was wondering if you could please comment on what grit was the sand paper on the sanding block and also what size do you estimate the frets are and what size crowning file should one use on the frets because when I went to order one online they weren't cheap, there were all sorts of sizes and I just want the right one. I plan on correcting these issues. Also there are 2 sizes Precision Notched Straightedges for bass guitar for standard and short scale. I'm not sure what scale the bass is considered and looking up definitions did not help me because I don't know where to measure from where to where... Great video! Thanks, Mike
Why did you start the straight edge at the 5th fret area instead of starting at the top(1st) fret area of the neck when you first straightened out the neck? When I worked on guitars I always started at the top of the neck with the straight edge. Your opinion would be appreciated. Thanks for the video. Good job. So true about needing the proper tools.
I do have one fret has a buzz at the 9th fret of the E string. It goes away if I raise the string up, but then the action gets too high. A friend is telling me to pound down the fret. Whats your professional opinion?
Does that bass have a big or fat neck ? Years ago i bought a cheep bass off the internet and when i got it the neck was so big it was unplayable, that looks like a great bass 👍.
It boggles my mind these Chinese/Far Eastern companies can make working guitars and basses for less money then it takes me to buy the wood. Just the damn wood!
