Thank you so much for posting this! It's Symphony #9, which is my absolute favorite piece of symphonic music of all time from any composer. Grand, sweeping, highly evocative... Symphony No 9 is a tone poem that moves through birth, life and death. The dark beginning of the first movement represents the formless void before birth. Within that void there begins a stirring. Slow at first and slowly gaining more and more movement and then the SPARK! Then the movement blazes into the "quickening" as life grows at a rapid pace. It's my favorite part of the entire symphony! I love the way it keeps building and building. Simply amazing....
thanx to mistake in this video title the publisher did not request its removal (there have been deleted at least five videos of Glass 9 from youtube) :-)
Glass made a long career out of that repetitive loop and he is simply outstanding. He is a great American composer and one of the greatest composers I’ve ever heard.
Dear God what a pleasure being forced into involvement in that magical music journey. Thank You for posting it and thank you, composer, conductor, and players. I can only imagine what a thrill it would have been to watch the players take us on that ride.
Dennis Russell Davies makes "body" with the symphonies of Phil Glass musical thought and sensitivity of which he understood and that he reveals entirely in the way he runs... " His signature ", whatever is the orchestra which he runs is recognizable between all and it is for our most great pleasure! This N ° 9 transmits to the listener the worry or even the anxiety of the compositor which did not cease to inquire about a humanity in iniquity... Sublimate revealing symphony of the soul tormented in search of Eternal Light...
Belle analyse et merci d'avoir corrigé, c'est bien la neuvième et elle mérite d'être bien nommée. La 10 est superbe aussi, beaucoup plus légère, moins grave.
Hermosa música. Excelente. La escuché muchas veces. Muchas gracias por compartir. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🎼😊Ah!!! Es la sinfonía número 9, no la 10!!! Gracias por la corrección.
I compared it with Spotify. It is Symphony 9. Philip Glass: Symphony 9 mov. I 14:18 mov. II 20:06 mov. III 15:30 Bruckner Orchester Linz Conductor: Dennis Russell Davies
As much as I admire Glass, who has written some outstanding music and created a unique style, I feel it's time to stop or change. At 85 change is now too late. I hear there is a 12th. But returning to Bowie influence... mmmmm not good.
He should have stopped after "Akhnaten", everything since then has just been recycled formulae. A human production belt churning stuff out just for the sake of it.
