I've been following you for years on multiple boards. I'm trying to decide between the Covington and a Crystalmaster 12 pro. I plan to do lots of glass castings next year.

Is this the same technique that you would use for polishing flat stones?

Is a felt pad needed when you move to cerium for the final polish? I am only seeing magnetic backed pads for sale... And the pans are aluminum.

Is I to the same basic process to polish petrified wood on this exact machine??

hi Dennis- is that a 16 inch diameter flat lap? I saw 16 inch diameter one listed on Craigslist and I think that would be a nice addition to my workshop. This one comes with 3 pans which i suspect will make switching grit easier. thanks
