Jeff, that is awesome! I have this little collection of fun shaped bottles some are just from storing say, spaghetti sauce or nuts, but others are nicer and even a wine bottle or two. I just can't throw them in the garbage even though I know they will end up recycled, lol. Thank you so much for a wonderful idea! Excellent way to "recycle" into something useful. Thanks for a great video. I have just subscribed. Just wondering what "fire polishing is"? Also wonder if door knobs and buttons could be made using a similar technique to the paperweights?
Hi Kathy. Thank you for your support. Fire polishing is simply placing your piece back in the kiln and taking it to a temperature just enough to get a good polish back on the surface, without changing the form of the piece significantly. Usually done after some coldworking. I suppose they could be done in a similar way, but you would have to solve how you put holes in the buttons and how the doorknob would be attached.
