You took a balanced cable and unbalanced which can negatively affect the sound. Should have soldered both wires to the centre pin and the braid for the shield as this would improve resistance to interference and reduce distortion
Excellent video! Which direction are the arrows facing in part one? Are they towards the end with the earth and mesh connected, or towards the end where the mesh is cut away?
I’ve always connected the shield at the source end, using the arrows to denote the direction of signal flow. This seems to work for me but I realize this a debatable subject. Which end do you recommend the shield connected end go? i.e., source or load.
