I'm due for some picking therapy. Sue and I hit New Oxford, the "original antiques capital of south-central PA." While browsing a few new antique shops, we stumble upon the motherlode of glassware: Fenton, LE Smith, Dugan, Westmoreland!
Please note that the reseller market does fluctuate. Depending on the age of this video, the values of antiques and collectibles quoted in this installment may be out-of-date and no longer relevant. Enjoy with caution.
Whoa...just watched this oldie that popped into my recommended list. Jocelyn AND Juliette so baby-face young!!! And my hubby had to point out the no-tat arm. You have improved so dramatically in voice, explanations, camera work, purchase selection.... It really took this video to appreciate your growth and success. CONGRATS.
I used to sell glass antiques for several yrs....What really interested me was that you learn something new everytime....Its not like you get bored from knowing everything thats for sure! I will be moving back home in Pa in a few mths, i will have to find out where all the good spots to shop all over again!...lol
Thank you for your GREAT video and sharing your knowledge. I do the storage shed auction thing. I bought one a few months back, with over 100 pieces of carnival glass in it. Still trying to research and learn the value of all it. I have learned that it is not worth what it use to be :( but still some pretty neat pieces in it.
I know right? I was getting seasick for real, and I dont get motion sickness generally. I do wish she would show some other things too, like the cobalt blue glass? I get she isnt so interested in it. But I just love it and wouldnt mind at least a glimpse of it. But dont get me wrong, I still love her and Sue shopping together. And I wont be stopping watching them anytime soon.
I literally got nauseous during the glassware scene. Plus, it seems like on these older videos she focused more on her face, rather than on the things she was looking at.
@@lapislazulblue oh yes I love both her and Sue! I definitely will keep watching them. I just can't stand that I get motion sickness on some of her videos! LOL!
Aw Your little pumpkin has grown up so much in three years.. What a little doll she is . I love your U tube video's I have learned so much thank you. Dorian's grandma
I am from PA-no, a lot of people would actually buy them in PA-it May be the local area seems modest-I love old glass & lamps also, even the cheap pretty glass. I don’t really collect too much though. Children and breakables usually do not fare well. It was a little dizzying going through the glass, but enjoyed the lessons. Your daughter was probably bored, but very well behaved! Thank you for sharing!
BTW, Its evident why you love glass. Glass is really beautiful and just a burst of color and shapes!! Its great to see you take great joy when you see glass pieces.
17:26 The prices on those lamps sounds about like my uncles lamp prices, the cheaper ones that is. He and my grandfather have dealt in antiques for as long as I can remember. My uncle refinished Ms. Kitty’s brass bed on the show Gunsmoke. He may finally be retired now. He did sell me a kerosene lamp years ago at an extreme discount. 🥰
I know it an old video butMy hart went out to you when you said what you guys had been through But what is clear you are a crazy lamp lady a brilliant relic recoverist and a fantastic MUm. Keep the videos coming GL&HH
If you ever make it near east central Illinois stop by the Amish antique shops in Arthur Illinois. Prices are much lower in rural towns and they have some neat stuff. They also sell homemade goodies like jelly, honey, cheese... Arthur is about 20 minutes south of Champaign which is easier to find. ;o)
Wow talk about being totally dizzy at the glass booth!! You couldn't keep it together and I felt like I was on a carnival ride!! It was totally awesome!
You could make a video about just the glass and tell what you can about everything in that department. And then take us to your own collection as a follow up. That would be HEAVENLY!!
I think you are terrific and so much fun. I think its so great the knowledge you have acquired on antiques and collectables is super!!I have to say, why do millennials have a thing about dolls being creepy? I worked in an antique store that was a warehouse building which housed 132 individual dealers. One dealer sold nothing but dolls and so many of the older dolls were super beautiful. The French dolls ,which were the most of expensive, had eyes made out of glass that was super stunning. The older Victorian dolls especially are truly like works of art. I think if you look at them at the craftsmanship alone, you would observe them in a different angle. Also, when I observe them, I think of the little kids who once cherished them with lots of love and that puts a smile on my face.
If the first Egyptian revival was in the 20's, then the second one had to be in the 1970's, when King Tut's treasures toured the US, on into the 80's. My mom and dad went to New Orleans in the mid 70's to see it. They talked about it for months. There have been several tours since. The treasures are in the middle of the last worldwide tour right now in 2019.
I thought you were holding the most adorable antique doll and then Sissy moved. Oh I hadn't seen any of the older videos yet. How adorable. Beautiful and both of your kids look just like mama. Some strong Geane's there but why not share your beauty.
Egyptian Rivial made a comeback in the 80's because the Cairo museum sent the King Tut exhibition to the U.S., where it toured several museums around the U.S., fueling ancient Egypt interest.
I know this is a old video but just found you and enjoy your finds..I stitch reproduction Samplers and know a bit about Samplers...the one you found is not old. If it was from the 1800s the linen would be very stained...and the lettering is off..they didn't stitch names the way that one was...still worth 25 to some people ...but not from the 1800 people now are making them look old with putting old dates on them...just thought maybe this would help...
The majority of children who develop a stutter do out grow it. It may disappear quickly or may take a few years. Great video. I agree with you about the tool caddy for $695 being wayyyy overpriced!
I know several people who stutter. A hair stylist, a professional singer and a successful entrepreneur. Whatever happens, YOU love your baby and what others say is a measure of their insecurity. Peace and Blessings.
No you were right - there was a small Egyptian 'thing' in the mid-century; 1940s-1950s, mostly in jewelry as it was stuff bought home from the war. the tool caddy that was $695 is an early cutlery tray isn't it? I couldn't see it that well and I'm not up on early American but it looked like 19th cent whereas the other one was (probably) 1950s shed work. Be really careful with samplers as there's a ton of fakes out there - something that says 1814 might've been made in 1986. Good video, can't believe it took me this long to find it! 😆
I know this video was two years ago but I was disappointed in the low amount of camera time on the actual pieces you were talking about. I will look at another video that is more current and see if this has changed. Thanks for filming and putting it out on the tube.
Your hairstyle came out around 1967. I had ny hair cut short on one side and longer on the other when I started high school in 1967. My hair is too thin to do it anymore.
you should check out the (zepplin and the unicorn antique shop) in Wilmington Delaware great stuff and there are about 4 other shops within five minutes
This is how i make 100% of my money. You should do an auction video too....I get my best deals at auctions in West Virginia. You should try and get to some smaller town auctions....you can make a killing reselling the stuff.
Rocks Cousteau I just lost my job of 16yrs and am looking for anything to make money. Is this a good option? Any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
Hey, I have been watching you videos and reading your article in Butches Magazine. So thank you for sharing!! I'm wondering what your Ebay name is? Just wanted to look at some of the antiques your selling. Thank you again for sharing Joshbiz
