Just put your own plastic bottle/s into your rucksack like an adult, and don't litter the place. How hard is that? ffs. The crowd on their way home and somebody else has to clean their mess. Just disgraceful.

What a joke. Some of the very same people who lecture the rest of us about the environment leave a sea of rubbish for others to clean up. Cancel future events until rubbish collection systems are worked out between organisers and festival goers. In the meantime shame those responsible for their irresponsible behaviour. Really, with all the environmental problems we have in the world this is disgraceful.
@joepublic3933
@joepublic3933 4 года назад
I suppose that you, at home put your rubbish in a bin? Guess what happens next: someone picks it up for you in a truck, takes it away, sorts through it to separate the things you missed, ships half of it off to another country, recycles some, composts some..... Now tell me what's different between your actions and a festival goers actions? Oh right, some of it is left on the floor? It gets picked up. Teams are there for that. It's one of the ways of going to the festival for free. "cancel future events until rubbish collection systems..." : Are you joking or what? Can't you see that rubbish collection systems are in place? That's why the field starts off green before the festival. It's been there since 1970. If there was no rubbish collection it wouldn't look like that now, would it? Think a bit. "some of the same people who lecture us": I think the environmentally aware people are probably a minority at the festival. There's a lot of young people.... young peope need educating, that's part of being young. So yeah, if you're going to think like that, stay at home, don't go out and mix with people, forget about your rubbish as soon as it's out of your front door (someone will deal with it, won't they?) and carry on pouring bleach down the drain as you consider yourself so morally superior.

To all the comments saying the plastic was left by people who preach about climate change and the plastic problem that's not necessarily the case, more than 200,000 people attend and some care about the environment more than others. A whole wave of plastic was stopped from being sold at the festival, millions of bottles, so that accounts for something. This video shows litter pickers clearing and recycling waste left behind, and although it's disgraceful it has been a lot worse and is in the end being sorted and recycled accordingly. Let's not suddenly point a finger at the sort of people who are trying to make a difference to the issue of waste, I'm sure they would of been setting the example at the festival for all those inconsiderate enough to not care, they are not hypocrites, people speaking out about these issues are trying to envoke change.

So many in the comments talking about the "youth of today", "the middle class", "eco warriors", "lefties" etc, just cos there's a lot of politics, environmental activism at glastonbury doesn't mean literally everyone is obsessed with the environment or "loves corbyn" or whatever. Most people aren't there for the politics, or they're apolitical or only have a slight interest in politics. And there's a wide range of ages, from families to elderly people who've been going for years, and yeah a lot of the millennial generation as well. And you don't have to be rich or even middle class to go, plenty of people there work the whole year at their low paying job to afford a ticket, the week or so they take off work to go is probably the only significant amount of time they take off work all year

What can you expect from The Sun? Haters are gonna hate hate hate..... The fact that the festival banned selling single use plastic bottle (even coffee cup lid!) is already a big step for festivals. Yes it’s hard to avoid somebody(lazy ones) from littering , but if you were at Glastonbury festival this year, you would see recycled bins everywhere and they were literally full! And during the break in between gigs on TV screens Glastonbury were promoting as much as they can about recycling. Of course there are always more actions that can be done, but The Sun’s this kind of attitude is definitely not helping.....awful press.

Why aren't we trying to find solution/s? This has been going on for decades, though the difference is the increase in population and therefore, the level of visible impact.
