This interviewer did a great job, you could tell Glen was cool with him because he gave a real interview. To those saying he seems terrified, you’re not very bright and have no read on people whatsoever, good luck.
Whata funny is that in my case thats true. I was born in 2006 and have been listening to Deicide since I was like 4 💀 (obviously it was my father who introduced it)
I met Glen when I was 15 years old. He was pretty Koo. That upside down cross was a little intimidating but as an artist I looked past that. He’s like a biker dude . Anyways Deicide for life🤟🏽!!!!!
I wouldn't say it killed death metal because it's still going on. I would say Metalcore/Post Hardcore or whatever you call it did. You know, bands like Asking Alexandria? if you look at legit deathcore bands they're not bad, for me at least. Like Thy Art Is Murder, Carnifex, I Declare War. They're pretty much death metal but with more breakdowns than usual. But hey everyone has their own opinions to it's whatever :P Favorite genre for me though is definitely Brutal Death/Slam stuff

Glen is a legend, I still remember being in high school when their first album came out and frankly it blew everything else in death metal away. I'd been into Sepultura and Obituary hardcore, then I found Deicide and was like DAMN, THESE guys are SICK!!! Only thing I miss from their first album is Glen's vocals. All of their albums are awesome, but their first album had the best vocals imho. and some of their best riffs too
Actually, Glenn seems pretty lucid....He is a big alcoholic, though. I have heard things. I live in R.I., where Vital Remains hails from, originally. Dave Suzuki is also still here in a collaboration with fellow Rhode Islander Ray McCaffrey ex Drummer of Grief (Boston) playing guitar in a band called CHURCHBURN. Good Doom metal.

I saw them live a little while ago and boy they are just so good. Ive listened to Deicide for years but hearing them live was a whole new experience. Too bad I couldnt head bang 💀 Kataklysm had played before and I head banged so I hard I couldnt move my neck 😂
Awesome. Can't freaking wait for the new album. Out of all the albums being released this years, this is the album that I want to hear the most. Such as it is with every album they put out. Been a fan since 1994 and supported them ever since. My favorite album by them will always be Legion. Thank you, Glen Benton. Long Live Deicide.
This interview is VERY different to that other one by MuChannel in 2011. It seems like Glen is a bit less serious with interviews, like hes happy in this interview :D it's nice!

First I thought the band was called Decide and now I know it's Deicide and also realized their logo kind of looks like the original Cannibal Corpse logo.
Glen is such a nice and intelligent man. I had the pleasure of sharing a beer and some JD with him before a Toronto show many years ago. I'm so excited for this new album. The title track has a very Once Upon The Cross / Serpents Of The Light era sound and feel which is just what this world needs again right now.

I always dig Glen Benton. I think he has a good head on his shoulders for someone that alot of people really don't like. He is a really nice guy in person i got the chance to meet him,they are all really nice guys. Respect the metal music.
for many many years I had a pre-conceived notion about Glen Benton. after getting to know him personally, he’s simply a down to earth bloke who is honest and doesn’t tolerate bullshit. he’s actually a really decent bloke. I take my hat off to him.
Good interview. I actually don't really mind deathcore, but, he has a point; a lot of it sounds the same and people may find it unlistenable. But then again, there's a lot of death/thrash metal bands out that sound the same, for the most part, but, they are easier on the ears. Hmm...
true, norway death metal sounds best, but American death metal from florida and thrash pioneers from bay area (frisco) are just as shredding. i loved deicide in vegas
everytime i drive down Benton road i think of deicide. but i am a huge fan of cancer, exodus, and forbidden. not to mention slayer, metallica, and dio(r.i.p.)
i still remember when i first saw the Once Upon the Cross album, back in 96ish i think. It was so grotesque and sacrilegious and i loved it! My buddy Kenny 'speakerman' Johnston had a "Wall of Sound" set up in his bedroom, and this is no bullshit.....he had 2 pairs of 12s 2 pairs of 10s 2 pairs of 8s and one set of 15s and another 12 in a huge truck box under his bed all hooked up to a Concept 12.0d reciever. His bedroom was very small so he stacked them ontop of eachother and on some shelves so it really did just look like a wall of speakers and his room was so small that we were only about 4 feet from the speakers anywhere in the room you went.....we would listen to that album at max volume....well not really, that amp couldnt be turned up past halfway, even at that all the speakers would start to distort. It is the single most powerful amp i have ever seen to this day....now he has a pair of 15s and 12s, Cerwin Vegas, and 2 15in Cerwin Vega subs and that amp cant be turned up even halfway....it rattles the neighborhood, just looking at it you would never think 'well this is an enormously powerful amp that ill never see again'.
I’m personally a Christian, I do like deicides music, I just don’t let the lyrics effect my life with God. I understand Glen has some takes on religion, but he still seems like a cool dude
Awesome interview!!! Seen Deicide 2x in Winnipeg and last week in Toronto. I got self titled and Legion on Cassette as well. 2nd time in Winnipeg Glen signed my 1st album cassette tape. CASSETTE TAPES FTW \m/-_-\m/

David Samlal Yeah, kudos to Glen for being a gentleman through this embarrassingly awkward "interview". I think the guy was too awe struck to behave properly. But hey, Glen is a legend so I can sorta empathize and forgive him a little I guess XD

That was a really good interview man,well done. I'm Canadian also & have pretty much followed Deicide their whole career as well & seen them live a few years ago in London,Ontario,Canada @The Music Hall & what an awesome show they put on man,I wasn't disappointed at all. & it was super cool also for me to see ex Cannibal Corpse guitarist Jack Owen & ex Obituary,Iced Earth,Death guitarist Ralph Santolla play as well & then of course the 4-string ringer himself Glen Benton.
Death Metal is magical and art music to me. A lot of the subgenres are great but something about DM just sucked me in and now its non stop BDM and SDM. I aspire to become as comfortable in my own skin as this guy. Newer metalhead here at just about 800 albums in. But this shit is great and the people who like it tend to be cool and relatable.
