A video exploring the role of archaeologist in Ireland, evidence that can be gained from object analysis, and the role of the museum. It was created for history teachers and students to use when learning about archaeology, museums, and artefacts as holders of evidence. The video is part of a set of resources inspired by the archaeology and objects that come from the valley of Glendalough, Co. Wicklow and that are on display in a new exhibition Glendalough: Power, Prayer and Pilgrimage at NMI - Archaeology. A significant amount of footage was shot in the exhibition, but the videos also show views of other exhibitions, and footage of behind the scenes views of the Museum laboratories, archives, and stores. Other segments were filmed at National Monument sites and the National Park at Glendalough, the UCD Centre for Experimental Archaeology and Material Culture at University College Dublin, and the Radio Carbon dating laboratory, 14CHRONO, at Queens University, Belfast. There are contributions from a wide range of specialists, including museum staff, scientists and archaeologists from the School of Archaeology at UCD, The Discovery Programme, Radio Carbon Dating laboratory 14CHRONO at Queens University, Belfast, and independent researchers. The two videos were developed by the Museum’s Education Department, with the exhibition curator and Mahoo Productions to appeal to Junior Cert audiences. Alongside the videos there are notes for teachers, activities for students and documents with the comic strips by artist Steve Doogan, that are used in the videos and which were commissioned and developed for illustrating more complex historical themes, and scientific dating techniques.

My thought on the shoe, it was too large and made smaller by re-working the back. That is why the quality of the work was different, the shoes were bought, then given to someone with smaller feet.
