I am at a loss for words right now. Glenn Frey was SUPER Talented and was a part of my childhood with songs like "The Heat is On," "You Belong to the City," and "Smugglers Blues." This man's talent EXCEEDED the norm and I will miss him very much. R.I.P. Glenn Frey. My heart goes out to his Family, Friends, and Fans. Glenn was the epitome of COOL.
I second your emotions. 3 years later. Can't believe it's been that long. So happy that Deacon is able to carry is fathers torch. I'll be watching him closely.
I am sad to say I am just coming to understand how utterly amazing Glen Frey is, and will always be...what an amazing, insightful man...a man truly for all times...
I enjoy hearing the history of the Eagles. It puts to rest the rumors I grew up hearing about the band. I'm sad the Glenn Frey is gone from the world now. I think he may have had more in his heart that he wanted do, based on an interview in 2015 with the Dan Patrick show. But, apparently his journey was finished. And he left behind a great legacy of vocals and song writing... Rest in Peace Glenn Frey...
For all of the friction that's been documented between Frey and Felder it is nice to see Glenn giving Don Felder credit for his contributions when citing the song Hotel California.
Glenn Frey thank you for the fantastic music that you shared with us.You will be surely missed by all your adorable fans.May you find eternal peace and happiness in your next life.Amen
Thanks very much for sharing! This is a great interview, if it's 1992, because it's before Hell Freezes Over. What strikes me, is that Frey pays tribute more than once to Don Felder, who he came to blows with after The Long Run, which ended the Eagles. And after seeing A History of Eagles, we know that Frey would eventually again kick Felder out of the band.
God bless Glen Frey ! Another great that God has taken to heaven ! You will be missed by billions worldwide ! R.I P our friend ! See you in heaven buddy ! Keep playing your awesome music in heaven ! God will love your music !
I am urging people to absolute STOP talking about what a terrible man Glenn was. He may have been awfully brutal to his bandmates but hits generosity shows volumes just looking at the liner notes and comments that he made in the documentary. Done examples.... he spoke in the documentary of how he sang less lead vocals because they "had don Henley" believing that he was better suited to sing the song. Another is the fact that after the addition of don felder and Joe walsh, Glenn plays less lead guitar because he believed that they were better guitar players than him. He could have just said that he was going to be the lead guitar player and that was that. He did what was best for the band. He was singing only one song per album on one of these nights, hotel cali and long run
" Eagles" = Don Felder, Don Henly, Joe Walsh" Glenn Frey, I've heared lots of criticisms about Glenn Frey, that he has been on heavy drugs for a long time as well gelusy and spitfulnes in between the members of the band and so on. No matter what, I think of mister Glenn Frey, as one of the voices in "Eagles" and I can still heare... " Take it Easy" , .."Lien Eyes" " Long Run" Desparado" "Life in the Fast Line" and so on. All I want to say ''Glenn Frey rest in peace.'' .. To me "Eagles", they all gave us such great music that would never die, doing songs for all generations and very much to the Surfers and the Surfing world down here in Australia. Don Felder and Joe Walsh ware the sweet sound of the band " Eagles" and Glenn Frey and Don Henly ware the voices of the band "Eagles" , that all equals = Harmony. Don Felder was an often unrecognized by many people but he was the back bone of the band People say : The real beauty is always under the surfers" , so is mister Don Felder #1 first class musician and #1 top class guitarist.... Mister Don Felder was the man who wrote 95% of the music fo "Hotel California" and I love that song. Regards from Australia : Mich'Michel..
+M Zach +Steve Konrad I'm a Felder guy, but for what its worth Frey seems to give him proper credit here. Frey and Henley wrote the lyrics so a lot should be said for that. And as for Felder, as much a fan of him I am, it was part of a tape of riffs he gave to those guys. You gotta give Frey and Henley credit for seeing something special in it, as it wasn't like Felder went to them and said "here's your masterpiece." He didn't know, which is why its a collaborative effort between all 3 of them. Actually, for as much as Frey hates Felder (and he really does), he seems to give him proper dues here, even calling him underrated and essential to the band, while not even mentioning Joe Walsh who is equally impressive in the guitar outro of the song. I can fault Frey for many things, but I think he handled that moment pretty well and fairly.
"Take It Easy" was the "beginning of Country Rock"? I wonder what McGuinn, Hillman, Furay, Young and even Stills, Sebastian and the ghost of Gram Parsons think of that one. I'm surprised Glenn's head even fits in the video box when I go to full screen view....
Any just bandmate would never take unequal share of the band royalties like Don Henley and Glen Frey did with their other band mates. Zero respect for either of them... sell outs for the money. Disgusting and disgraceful... regardless of album accolades.
I guess mega sales mediocre crap can't necessarily get you past 67 no matter what your net worth. Just because this guy and Henley threw some words and chords together and is interviewed by Costas somehow he thinks he's interesting.
@@KCIAN2 Walsh had his own highly successful solo career with the James Gang long before the Eagles-- He hardly needed the Eagles "winning lottery ticket"!
Anyway, to finish out the interview, Glenn Frey was on a peyote trip in Joshua Tree National Forrest after leaving the Truebador in LA at midnight the night before. He just happened to spot an American bald eagle souring high above. Of course, could of been just the peyote since he was in a Southern California desert, and not Alaska!!
Jim Hawkins very true. Don Henley to the Eagles is like Sting to the Police. talented indeed but if left to their own desire every song would be a sappy soft rock love song. Glenn brought the rock and the country, the sound we know as the Eagles, to the group.
It's not fry it's frey. How the heck is frey pronounced fry. Glen fray. Aye, thats Glen Fray. Not Hi, thats Glen Fry. And why does the drummer have a poof? And, it sucks but meisner was top vocals, then walsh, then frys hairstylist, then henleys pick or comb, then felders sock, then fries ego, did i say the eagles were great....yeah....great
