When I got the internet connection for the first time, and I searched for the most romantic songs on the RU-vid, this song popped up and this was the first video ever that I listened on YT and I instantly fell in love with it... I was head over heels.
Medeiros was 16 when he recorded this: he won a contest and got to record a song, and this was it. Almost by accident it became a worldwide hit: a mainland radio DJ vacationing in Hawaii heard this, he played it on his show back in Phoenix and it became a hit there. The owner of a small record label heard it and signed him up. It was a top 15 hit in the USA but really blew up in Europe, like it was #1 in England for a month (he turned 18 during that run at number one). A few years later he left the business, became a teacher, got his doctorate in education and is now the head of St. Louis school in Honolulu (where pro QBs Marcus Mariota and Tua Tagovailoa attended).
@@lightoftheworld417 George sang this song first at 1985 but Medeiros sang at 1987 and made worldwide. My personal opinion, both of them are fantastic but George was the original singer so his voice is more mature and smooth.
This song moved you,touched your heart..I remember this song back in the day alongside REO Speedwagon's "Take it on the run" and "Keep on loving you"..all similar genre and very easy going ,melodic fare.

I love this song, I am gen X, but I was shocked when I watched this video for the first time last year. He is a child!!! His voice is 40, but his face is 15. So crazy!!!
Also nobody has mentioned it yet, but this is a cover, this song was by George Benson and although George Benson is very talented and has many great hits, I prefer this version.
