I just hate his relationship with Brian. It came literally out of nowhere because he never indicated he hated Brian in older seasons. Putting aside him being a hypocrite who was worse than Brian, he just couldn't go one scene without him disliking him like in that one Christmas episode. The only one I disagree with is him and Ida. Ever since her transition, he's misgendered her, won't call her his mother, still sees her as a man, and seems to barely even allow himself to use her new name. Whether it's just to fit with the edgy anti "sjw" theme of the show or not, he doesn't respect her identity. He may love her but it's still toxic.

@@PyxeledGenesis That's the thing though, he can't forget the past decades worth of established identity and in that respect there's nothing to correct. For the majority of his life Ida was his Dad, and his initial resentment stems from how he STILL sees Ida as his Dad but is expected not to anymore. It's genuinely a hard situation for both sides in this case. I'm just glad Glenn and Ida have a healthy supportive relationship in that they at least understand each other. That's what really counts, yeah? :)

The struggles of being respectful to a trans person's identity after you've known them for years and the struggles trans people face for their identity are *not* comparable. I've had friends for years who came out as trans, and though it took time, I could still respect them and get used to their name and pronouns. It is truly not that hard to correct yourself or attempt to be respectful to trans people unless you're actively trying not to. The show uses Ida as a punching bag, the poor woman doesn't even defend herself or correct people because the writers have such a loose concept of trans people. I agree that it's good they have a mostly healthy relationship aside from Ida being trans, but again from a trans person's perspective, the pain that comes with someone intentionally disrespecting your identity and refusing to try is so unbearable. With Quagmire's blatant disregard for his mom's feelings, their relationship is absolutely unhealthy. Healthy relationships have to have respect on both sides.

@@PyxeledGenesis With genuine respect towards your experiences, I disagree with your ending note on respect as it comes off as very one sided. Your version of respect is the exact same as what you're accusing Family Guy of, only yours is in favor of Ida :/ If your version of respect involves everybody going by the pronouns you have chosen for yourself, then yeah, not everyone is going to respect you. Like for reals, yes it would truly be hard to "correct" oneself in that situation. 60+ years of having a Dad and suddenly now having a second Mom is not as easy as having a friend for 5,10, or 30 years transitioning. With a parent that's a whole other level of intimacy and familiarity to deal with and over 60 years. Glenn isn't calling Ida "Dad" as a personal attack just because he is wrong for doing so. That's not the intention and Ida knows that. Ida shows Glenn a great deal of respect and understands where he's coming from, and Glenn respects her enough yo keep her in his life rather than estranging her for not fitting his ideals. To me, that is as genuine as respect can get. Being able to have differing ideals but still loving and supporting one another is an immensely beautiful thing.

One point for Quagmire and Brian being toxic is that it's actually one of few cases Family Guy had continuity. Brian's attitude apparently slowly got under Quagmire's skin until he hated him, then Quagmire started aggressing Brian more and more obsessively until he hated Quagmire back and started biting on purpose. Now they're enemies who nearly always do horrible stuff to each other and most episodes they fight end with them both miserable or worse. It's not just a bad relationship it genuinely intoxicated and turned them into spiteful egotistical mirrors as the show went on.

Say what you want about Brian always hitting on lois at least Brian didn't try to bang lois when peter lost hid memories unlike quagmire who got on Brian for trying to hit on his wife but he takes advantage of a situation to get with Lois that doesn't make him better the Brian
