When Maggie says "Glen was beautiful, I'll never love anyone like that again," my heart broke for her. To find a soul mate and love someone is truly a blessing, and maybe even rare these days, and to lose them in such a tragic and heartless way is soul crushing.
I want to imagine in another universe Glenn survived and he had a happy ending with Maggie and little Hershel. Who knows maybe Glenn and Negan become good friends in another universe.
Yea, its make sense too. Being emphatic are hard these days even we are not live in apocalyptic day. Some haters will prob say its fake but sometimes we meet people with diverse characters.
I know how she feels. I haven't lost that person but I feel that way about them. And I can sympathizer when she says I'll never love like that again. I would be heartbroken if I lost them.
People forget what he did he has changed but what he did is unforgivable I could never forgive someone for doing that recently been rewatching the series and Glenn’s death is by far one of the hardest
The best part of this scene is really that Negan doesn't say anything at all. He just lets her speak and be honest with him. No little Negan quips or questions or excuses. Just lets her go off because he knows it's what he deserves and what she needs.
Deserves? Rick and his people attacked Negan's people 1st in the show unlike the comic. Comic Negan was correct how it went, but show Negan could argue, correctly, that he was defending himself and his people from Rick slaughtering them in their sleep, again.
When she said, “Glenn was beautiful.” I felt that. Glenn had so much heart. The show was never the same after he died. I really admire Maggie for having such restraint.
They killed the show with that episode and how they dragged everything along, and teasing his death another way before then. They literally killed the last goodwill people had for the show when they killed him the way they did, ironically even when it followed the original material.
Well I believe Maggie and the rest of the group are hypocrites they started that shit by killing his men and they want to act wronged because they had to face the consequences now maybe Glenn and Abraham weren't the ones who should have had to pay for that with their lives but the victim card played by her and the rest of the group pisses me off...
It's not as simple as he killed Glenn. It wasn't a gun shot to the head or a stab in the heart. Negan brutalised him in front of his wife and mocked him. Maggie would always remember his death but her last image of Glenn was his eye popped out of his head and meanwhile Negan cracked jokes.
I will never forgive him for what he did to Glenn he turned his head into mash potatoes right infront is pregnant wife while she was balling her eyes and making jokes and laughing and I’m glad Maggie didn’t either the amount pain she is in struggling to live without him and constantly missing him is so sad the scenes in the spin off her at the dinner scene when she was gonna put his picture on the table but ended up choosing not too And the scene where she was looking at his picture crying absolutely broke my heart
Exactly he made glen’s death so brutal can you imagine the type of pain Glenn was feeling. It wasn’t an easy death and he was talking so much while Glenn was suffering. It took him a full 20 seconds before he decided to put Glenn out of his misery.
@@1tim3_JB exactly Glenn felt all of what happened to him cuz he was still breathing and twitching it was so brutal what he did is not something forgiven not only did he kill her husband he beat him to death in a brutal way negan left her broken and depressed she still constantly misses Glenn all the time and she struggles to live without him while trying to take care of there child in a terrible world plus he gave her PTSD and nightmares about the lineup LOOKING from a realistic POV there’s no way someone can forgive for what he did I get he missed Lucile but that does not sound like a good reason to do what he did too other communities and Glenn and Abraham seem like an excuse to do what he wanted
@@Digger-Nick unprovoked?negans men tried too kill Daryl Sasha and Abraham on the road, and they were doing terrible things too hilltop and other communities rick just striked first before Negan got the chance to make it too Glenn didn’t need to die even Negan said that
It shows how much strength Maggie has. To look the man in the face that killed her husband and not want to kill him on the spot. She is a way better person than I would be.
Negan not getting killed by the husbands of women he forced to marry him or the family members of men he beat to death with baseball bat requires more suspension of disbelief then the existence of zombies on this show.
@@absoluteterror9098eh they wanted him dead though. They didnt seem to want him to live. They put up with him to survive. Cults do brainwash for sure but the people they brainwash there was an opening. Sometimes its stolkhome syndrome. These people didnt seem happy with their roles only compliant. With their attitudes Im a bit surprised they werent always trying to kill him for a while there like Maggie wanted to.
@JJ-zf8ck I agree with you completely they just kind of all vanished never to be seen again except a mention by Frankie that she and some other s-x slaves I mean "wives" moved into Oceanside because they were disgusted that Rick kept that monster in the basement. @absoluteterror9098. Everyone was always trying to kill Negan all the time and he just refused to die because plot armor kept him around for the whisperers stuff as a straight man to contrast Beta and Alpha. This lead Negan to believing he was invincible and thus could do anything he wanted so he did. When he kept not dying despite abusing/enslaving everyone and countless assassination attempts people started worshiping him as a God. As for the cult it makes sense if that it formed. IRL if you saw someone survive dozens of assassination attempts and they just kept walking away without a scratch why not believe that something divine is protecting them? Answer is that in this universe a divine being (the writers) are literally watching out for Negan and protecting him from the consequences of his actions.
I had stopped watching the show after Glenn’s death, but it’s nice and poetic seeing this scene after all the seasons I’ve missed, and to see the utter remorse on Negan’s face. It’s cool to know that he apparently had a redemption arc
Same. I watched Walking Dead season 1 when it dropped initially and got into it because of Rick and Glenn. But after hearing he died, I'm scared to come back to it. But knowing they followed through with his death and made it worth it for the story is great.
people who kill people for no reason other than sadism aren't capable of redemption. it's a genetic thing at that point like psychopathy. this is terrible sjw writing
Same. I picked it back up around Season 9 when they had a huge time jump (around 8-ish years), and enjoyed it a lot. But it's always been really interesting to me that Glenn was so beloved that his death genuinely ruined the show for me, and so many others. Other characters in the Walking Dead, other brutal shows like Game of Thrones, no character death has had an effect on me like that. Like Maggie said, Glenn was beautiful :(
I just don’t understand anyone quitting the show whatsoever?? Why?? It was a brilliant show and every Season was great in different ways, and yes while some of the Writing was better in some episodes, that’s always the way with ANY long running TV show!! But at the end of the day, it’s all about Entertainment, and that’s what the Walking Dead did in bucket loads. But to get so obsessive about any TV show in general can’t be a good thing really I think? Just appreciate the show for what it was/ is, a Solid piece of Entertainment and that’s it!!
@@steveturner609 While I enjoyed the show, I had been steadily watching it less and less. By the time I had gotten to that episode, I'd basically not been watching much of cable TV at all. So not too long after I literally just cancelled cable. I may enjoy it more nowadays tbh
So much pain on both of them, they need each other’s strength, but the struggle haunting them from the past is too hard. The dynamic scenes between these two are so intense!
@lordmorklen5166 ong really you're bringing politics into this???😂😂😂 That's pathetic but since you're putting it out there is Trump is awesome and Biden is a child molester
Dude, he smashed her boyfriends skull into paste while mocking him as he slowly cried out for her. Like, I don’t know what this Negan guy does in the later seasons as a “redemption arc” but it’s absolutely comical to think there’s even a chance for Maggie to forgive him.
This scene is beautiful. I love the overwhelming emotions they both showcased. It truly was an outstanding performance from both actors because subtle actions like that are very hard to portray. Personally, I'm glad she didn't forgive him because this is a dark world they live in and what he did is too severe. But I love how they both showed acceptance of the situation and also understanding. The gentle heaviness that filled the atmosphere was there to remind us how much we all loved Glenn and how Negan took that from us. But in a way, the conflict integrated within because it's hard to not feel a tinge of sympathy for him since he's clearly trying to redeem himself and try to prove that he wants to be better. This is why, to this day, The Walking Dead is still my favorite series.
I think Negan as the leader of the Saviors was an overstreched story arc that took way too long. But many things went wrong in later series of the Walking Dead, Negan's arc from the prison cell out back into the main characters was done absolutely well. This is why the Maggie - Negan relationship turned into a so far very promising spinoff.
Shit im still not over him killing glenn like that, theres no way i would ever expect maggie to forgive. Ive been rewatching TWD and its even more powerful now how incredible of a person glenn was. He really was the heart and soul of the group. He deserved nothing but great things but he got negan. Negan should definitely pay for that one every day for the rest of his life.
Watching this made me cry for real, especially once Negan looked like he was about to cry, you can just tell he feels so much remorse for her, and the pain he’s caused her, especially once he was about to lose his wife to the common wealth soldiers.
Man, it feels so amazing to see this moment play out. To see true regret on Neagans face. For him to finally understand how he made other people feel. What a great scene
This is really the reason why I stuck with this show until the end, along with the apology scene which preceded it. I read an interview with JDM about how critically important it was to have Negan sit there in silence, and that so incredibly true. This is one of the best scenes and moments of dialogue in the entire TWD saga.
The finale was beautiful. This show is a remarkable portrayal of our humanity in so many different facets. I cannot wait to sit down and watch this show with my children, should that day come.
I really hope in the Maggie and negan show they eventually meet back up with Rick after all these years. The last time Rick spoke with negan there was still so much tension and hatred towards each other so for Rick to find out just how much negan has changed and how he saved Hershel and Judith could create some powerful dialogue. Eventually they would bring up Carl and it would be very heartwarming to see them connect like that. I know it’s far fetched, but a great idea for a final shot in the series would be like the dream sequence in s7e01. The only difference would be that Glenn and Abraham aren’t around to see it but a world where everyone learned to live together became a reality.
They're definitely gonna meet up again. These spinoffs aren't gonna go on years at a time like the original series.Theyll all come back together in their own show eventually at the right time. This world will go on and all the kids will grow up and have their own show one day in the future.Dont be surprised if Maggie has another child by Negan this is still a soap opera to some extent lol
Its commendable that he is remorseful but it is too little too late, he has tainted his soul beyond repair. The only hail mary he could hope for true redemption would be to sacrifice himself for Maggie in the spinoff, that would redeem him, but the price is indeed ultimate. I can see it now, laying there dying having saved Maggie, as she tells him she finally forgives him. That would be a worthy arc.
Negan's story isn't one of redemption. It's of repentance and repenting for the horrific things he has done. He knows that he is beyond redemption and he knows his soul is beyond saving. But the least he can do is try to make things better for others with whatever time he has left. It's very similar to Endeavor's story from My Hero Academia. He knows he will never be forgiven for putting his family through what he did. But the least he can do is acknowledge his mistakes and own up to them. Negan is very similar.
@@truthfullyidk2925 sometimes that's the price one must pay. Sure, Maggie will probably at some point finally forgive him and that will definitely take some of the burden off Negan's shoulders. But that weight from all the guilt Negan has will never entirely go away.
On one hand, Dead City was an interesting watch, but on the other hand this was the perfect way to close the chapter between Negan and Maggie. Maggie acknowledges Negan is trying and has earned his place amongst the group, but the wound will forever be fresh. This was a mature response from Maggie, and it took a lot of willpower to speak to her husband's killer in such a calm fashion. Glenn would be proud.
Thank you for posting this. I finally finished the series this year (tried to finish it earlier than that but couldn’t after a family member’s death). I actually loved how her answer was “no” for once, because we often see women comforting dangerous/awful men in tv. It’s nice to see a woman emulate “I’m saying no to you when you ask for forgiveness.”
very good scene.......neagan has tried to change....but if i was her i could never forgive him either.......glens death was brutal and unneccisarily violent....
Daryl cried Rick visited Glenn’s grave a few times Carol looked sad Carl in anger snuck into sanctuary and killed a couple of saviors Maggie (I mean cmon)
It blows my mind that anyone that watched Glenn's death can justify it or say that Negan was justified. Sure you can make a case for Negan executing someone from Rick's group as retaliation. I will sort of give you that. But thats not what haunts Maggie or what makes Negan "irredeemable". It was the psychological torture. And most importantly how much Negan enjoyed not killing but MAMING Glenn, bashing his head in until he was a pile of meat and bones while his pregnant wife watched and Negan laughed. Thats what haunts Maggie and theres no justification for it. And lets be real here, the whole "well the group killed those men that also had families!" as if Negan gave a shit about any of his men or their families.
Negan will probably work himself to death to repay his debt. After all life for a life, just as long as they don't neuter the guy. He's a badass and he needs to remain that way til the end
@@bricemorgan6952 He just sucks as a good guy, and there is no way Im going to feel sorry for him. That’s like felling sorry for Freddy Krueger just because he “found Jesus”. Negan was such an iconic villain just to be turned now into a goodie two shoes. 👿😇 Don’t forget that there is a different between closing your heart for survival and closing your heart with sadistic methods in order to survive. Besides, he has done sooo much to turn back and sooo much to go on. 😔 I know that the series is trying to teach us how to forgive and forget (even those who we might think that don’t deserve it). But my problem is not with forgiveness (I know about forgiveness), my problem is that Negan will no longer be so well written as he once was. As for his justified reason for his changing, I cannot empathize with him. One thing is to forgive and forget, other thing is to get along with that person. 👎
@@thecommonloon I agree, Daryl is a great example of that! The thing is that Negan SUCKS now! If he is going to be a goody two shoes for the rest of his life then Im no longer interested in him. 👎
I literally cried when i first saw that scene glenn was and is still my favourite character of the hole show and i was literally hurt by the acting of both of them this scene just made it clear to me why i love twd 😢
I feel like shows don't get this aspect of forgiveness very well, but this one seems to be spot on "I don't want to hate you anymore" Hate is a strong this and forgiveness is something we can easily lie To ourselves and others about.
I adore Maggie's actor. She embodies the love for Glenn and her family in a real way. I know my husband is the most beautiful person in the world. To think of his last moments in pain, crying for me, while his tormentor mocks our pain, is tragic. The beauty of the love she portrays has made me appreciate the love I have for my own partner. Should we all experience that kind of love... i think no one would ever want to break a heart again if they knew how it feels.
It’s very ignorant and a disservice to the rest of mankind to say your husband is the “most beautiful person in the world.” Sheesh, what arrogance! You haven’t even met .1% of the rest of the world! I know it’s your perspective and you probably don’t give a shit to utter it in such an ignorant way but it must be said that you have no class!
"You brutally murdered the love of my life right in front of me, but hey, I'm gonna be the bigger person here..." This scene is so stupid it's insulting.
For it to even get to the point where this happens is unbelievable. And it's totally realistic for Maggie to not forgive Negan...I think basically nobody would. Not only did he kill Glenn, he whacked Glenn on the head so hard his eye popped out and he was kneeling there just suffering...and only after mocking him some more did he brutally beat his head to mush. If someone killed one of my loved ones like this, especially in front of me, that person would be my eternal enemy and I would forever want revenge.
He really does regret doing this and there is no bigger punishment than regret. Unfortunately Maggie will never forgive him and its understandable. Im just glad rhey could settle this peacefully.
Even though I didn’t finish the show I stopped at season 9 episode 5 I have been watching clips from the last half of seasons 9, 10, and 11. I hope the writers don’t have Maggie and Negan get together romantically because that would be the worst.
They messed up the show when they let Negan live. Someone else said it down below, it was more make-believe to let him live than the actual zombies themselves.
Yeah he lives in the comic book too. I never thought that made sense either. In the live action show it just didn't play right. No wonder they lost so many viewers after Glenn and Abe got killed.
I love how he does say anything after she said I can't and just lets her talk. And he's clearly genuinely listening. And he's feeling all of it, all of her feelings and all of his own regrets. That's how you know he meant his apology.
I hate that he has a redemption arc what he did was so messed up and evil I don’t know what the writers were thinking some sins can’t be forgiven and you can say he’s trying to be better or some bullshit but he’s alive while Glenn is dead and Maggie and their child are alone shits messed up
@@DeadX2 negative would force woman to marry him and beat their lovers to death in front of them and he loved to torture mentally/emotionally he’s not someone you should be defending
@@DeadX2he didn't, the saviors attacked Rick's group first way before they heard of Negan. Rick saw them as a threat which is why they made the first move. Besides Negan would have done the exact same thing, he did it to other groups as well, Negan just used rick attacking their satellite as an excuse.
Maybe ricks opinion has changed since the prison, but when he said, “we can all come back, we’re not too far gone” definitely applies to negan. Mans turned into a straight wasteland raider leader. But so much has happened, I think I can accept him coming full circle (even saw a glimpse when he surrendered to Rick in all out war before getting the throaty knifey lol) I’d still be okay with him dying, but I don’t want to see him get splattered like I used to.
Nobody in the group has demonstrated the savagery or evil that Negan has. I can't ever see him doing more good than bad, but that's why he's an interesting and complex character. Is redemption possible for him? Does he even deserve it? Maybe. It's up to each individual to decide that. Personally, I think the only way he can redeem himself is if he gave his life for Maggie or her son. He denied Glenn seeing his boy grow up, Negan shouldn't get that privilege while also being "redeemed." The moment you become a good person is the moment you're fully subject to the cruelties of this world.
I really should get back to watching this. I never watched it while it was on TV so I'm seeing it all for the first time. I knew what happened to Glenn though from the craze when it first aired.
This felt like a solid resolution of the animosity between Maggie and Negan. So it felt odd when they meet in Dead City and its like she hates him again
Yep.. And not only odd. The idea of the 2 of them having a spinoff series together (where they obviously must interact a little more and closer ) felt pretty stupid. Got it with this scene, she cannot forgive him.. Perfect. Nice. Understood and understandable (who could?).. And then there's a series of these 2? What for? To see more of an emotional debate we already know that exists? Nonsense . Regards
@@Isalasso In this I agree. Obviously is to use this excuse so that there is an interesting tension to make money from people s curiosity. On the other hand, I think it was imperative to have Rick and Michonne series
I remember people giving Maggie so much crap for not forgiving him. If he did that to my partner, I'd never be able to forgive him either and sometimes you don't have to forgive people to find peace or grow. Maggie is trying and she grew so much from wanting to kill him, to doing her best to co exist with him around that takes true strength. She knows he's changed but that will never change what he did.
I understand why she's mad too, but he had every right to kill Glenn after they killed so many of his people. During all these years of the apocalypse Maggie definitely killed people with families, husbands, and wives, and I bet she doesn't care or would show remorse for them.
@@ThegoatTKhe didn't though, he only did it so they'd bend to his knees and work for him. Does that sound like he had the right to do it? Sure, you could say Rick's group attacked "first" but Rick's group did it in self defense, Ricks group were attacked by the saviors way before Rick's group heard of negan. Negan used it as an excuse and he didn't let them say their side of the story.
The thing about Negan that does not make sense is that the writers are looking over some really bad stuff he has done, that had nothing to do with protecting his own. You can't just unwrite that. Instead of them trying to justify him, they should have handled him as he was. Bro literally took his men's wifes in a harem bro, what part of that was about protecting his own. He enjoyed humbling and humiliating people, because he had felt humiliated at a certain point. At least be real with it, don't try to write over it.
Let's be real, not all of those women had husbands and they made a choice they didn’t have to be his wife. People don’t even know a lot of those women so how you know they had a husband. He was protecting his people, shielding them from Rick. You see, Daryl drove that truck into the sanctuary, which caused all those walkers to enter and kill innocent people. And guess what? They didn't care.
@@khrishp man hell nah but I’m just saying people say he took other dudes wives but how do you know all those women had husbands. The only one we know that had one was sherry and she made that choice. They don’t have to be his wife if they don’t want to he even said that.
she gave a FUCK TON of grace in this scene, she doesn't owe forgiveness but damn did she show a lot of heart by accepting his presence and putting words and effort towards some kind of peace even though his actions were always unforgivable.
Maggie been through a lot losing her father then sister and the love of her life right in front of her they all died my heart breaks for her she is my favorite character from TWD serie she is beautiful and strong❤
I love that in this scene negan knew to just stfu and listen to her cuz usually negan always has something to say but he knew not to speak and you can tell she appreciated that
I love how Began says absolutely nothing, but communicates so much. Maggie's part was acted so well too. I'll need to get this, just been watching clips of it.
I think it’s really good how they got to give negan the chance to actually see what it did to Maggie. I mean when he killed Glenn and Abraham he did it because they killed his people and he didn’t know them like we did so he had no remorse obviously but I do like how they were able to show him that their death caused them a huge amount of pain and nearly destroyed them. Getting this scene and all the others of Maggie talking about negan to Glenn is like us getting justice and peace😂 even though it still hurts that they are gone
@@js1423 you have to understand that negans people don’t think they are bad people it’s the way the apocalypse made them to be. Obviously if they kill your people you will kill theirs. Plus we don’t know their story the way we know Abraham and Glenn’s so it’s not yikes. I don’t like them but obviously you take mine I’m gonna take yours😐
@@sarahnicolcea551 they were literally extorting communities for supplies and actively killed people. The people at the outpost had a wall full with photos of Lucille-victims, like sick trophies. So, yeah they can’t be compared to Glenn. Abraham was a little psychotic though
They denied us the closure of Negan’s death at the hands of Rick. Yes, Jeffrey is a phenomenal actor but allowing him to live went against the narrative of the show, and Rick’s repeated promise “I’m going to kill you, not today, maybe not tomorrow” which spooked the hell out of Negan yet it never happened. If they wanted more of Jeffrey then they should have made a spin-off of Negan’s rise to power. The death of Carl was also unnecessary, and a spin-off of him as an adult exploring the wider new world would have been cool, especially if down the line he put on a policeman’s uniform like his dad before the apocalypse.
I quit watching after they turned TWD into a "moral of the story," ABC afterschool special-ish, melodrama. Where all groups needed to be reflected in the cast for politically correct purposes.
I'm happy she told him she would never forgive him bc I never could. I like negan but I will never forgive or forget what his character did to Glen. I loved glens character.
@TheGovernor2003I wouldn’t have minded of Daryl died when the first found the Wolves’ Walker trailers (I can’t remember who was with him), he gets to die saving someone, gets a cool line and gets a last smoke.
I won't forgive him either. Glen was my favorite character and even though I knew what was coming, I kept hoping they'd do something else. I will never be on Negan's side, I don't care what he does, how many babies and kittens he could save, I won't forgive him for Glen. Nope.
I hate when people say she should get over it. What happen was something truely terrible and tragic, to loose someone you love that much. Negan can reedeem himself sure but it dosent take away what he did or what he does deserve
What Maggie said is so true and from the heart. She can't forgive or forget but she won't let it hurt her or have control over the life she is surviving now
The day Glenn died, is the day the walking dead died to me too. Despite all the newer arcs and how long this show has gone on, I could never bring myself to watch it again. I feel the same way I don't want to remember Glenn like how Neagan did him. Glenn was truly the heart of the show and I was really pissed they did him like that.
I was stoked. As a comic reader, seeing that scene come to life, mannnn it was great. I loved how much they tried to please the people who loved the source material.
The fact that Negan evolved from making an example and not caring at all to regretting killing Glenn is one of the best character arcs I've seen. Makes you wonder on how Rick's choices of killing someone actually hurt someone else. It's all a matter of perspective in the end
I stopped watching twd like 7 years ago, I don't remember shit and I definitely didn't reach this part. One of the last things I remember was Glenn's death, so it's absurd to me to see that she's talking to this psycho so calmly. What the fuck
I know negan became a fan favorite, and his own backstory is heartbreaking, but maggie never getting to kill negan the way he killed glenn is one of the biggest disappointments
I remember the absolute trauma his death caused the whole Fandom of this show. I didn't watch this show, but I watched a few episode to have something to do with the guy I was living with at the time, and the ones I watched were Negan's intro and Glen's death. That shit was harsh. To see this apology almost a decade later is impressive.
I understand that hershel being taken by the croat brought this pain back for maggie but I really wish this scene was the beginning of a friendship or at least maggie not hating negan so much in dead city. their dynamic is great and my absolute favorite scenes were when they were opening up to each other. I never thought I'd ever say this because I genuinely despised negan more than anyone in the earlier seasons but I feel like they have the potential to be friends even though maggie will never be able to fully forgive him. it seems like it might go in that direction so I'm hopeful that she'll at least get the closure she needs
