To have a voice this close to a legendary diva like whitney houston is a blessing. People tend to forget she is dutch. English is not her native language. Many people will also say she is copying whitney houston, this is not true. Whitney was her idol yes. Glennis sings whitney songs as tribute to that. Her style is also whitney. But this is her natural voice. I have seen many reaction video's.. And people tear up, get emotional. Whitney is one of, if not, the best female voice of all time. It affects people who maybe grew up in the 80's or are just a huge whitney fan. This man is right.. To learn proper vocal techniqes you should study older music. The music industry has changed alot over the years. There are so many genres now. But vocal technicallity is still what seperates the pro's from the lesser skilled. For example.. there is so much insanely skilled singers in the fillipines. And i have learned (i used to be with a fillipina) that karaoke is a big deal there. From young age they sing songs from the diva's of old. Music was just.. better back then. And for every whitney fan out there, i hope you discover glennis grace. So you can listen to this ''whitney'' voice and bring you back to the good old days and memories.

I noticed that GG had the same effect on you as I experienced the very first time I heard her sing "Run to You"...I am a 73 yr old, much traveled man and there I sat with tears in my eyes. I don't know what it is about her that hits "that spot" in us, but she does it. Great assessment and reaction on GG. Candy Dulfer is no slouch either.
Mr. Murry, the reasons of all the singers whosever that feeling becomes that they believe what they sing and convince us. In the Netherlands we have a lot of great singers who can give that feelings and believe as an old dj I felts more asin The past. If you like wonderfull music sang by artist who get out of their comfort zone to do amazing things look for the Dutch tv show “Beste Zangers” there is a lot on RU-vid and sometimes there also English subtitles or the “Ladies of Soul” ( Glennis and friends). ENJOY the music.

I agree GG is a pro. She's been at this since probably a teen. Her number one Artist is Whitney. Please react to GG singing 'Always' by Bon Jovi and her number one hit 'Afchied'. Most often when people are trying to cover this song and is going for the high notes. All focus is going to reaching up to the top and they simply can't articulate the words up at the highest notes. Glennis is flawless.

Glennis is a fantastic singing, and in my opinion she is the only artist I've ever heard truly do Whitney justice. The biggest difference between them is their natural tone and their musical instincts. Whitney, at her best, had a tone that was like honey. It was smooth, warm, and sweet. Glennis' tone is rich and full, but not as sweet or smooth. Whitney was also old school, so she improvised naturally. She never did a song the same way twice. Glennis is more of a cover artist, so so doesn't take as many risks.
Absolutely Glennis needs her own material and also needs to sing more freely instead of trying so hard to stick to the script. It gets boring after a while. Sometimes you want to hear imperfections and disorganisation in peoples vocals. Also she lacks dynamics

What makes this performance different from all other artists who covered a Whitney Houston song is her tone and richness of her voice. Everybody is saying she sounds exactly like Whitney, but I disagree. The difference, in my opinion, is this is more a tribute than a cover. In a cover you give your own twist to the song, but Glennis honored the song how it was ment to be. But you can very well hear this is Glennis singing and not Whitney.
Jennifer Hudson does a great job on this song too. Her voice is deeper, adding her own interpretation to the song without trying to be Whitney! Wait, wait…Don’t forget about the Original by Miss Dolly, very precious too!
