And that's why they can play on the same level as the US while having a fraction of the defense budget. Turns out your defense dollars can go farther when most of them aren't wasted on padding some Raytheon investor's pockets.
full rus trolls here, are u dumb enough to hink putin wants peace? rus fanboys justifying their daily warcrimes on civilians, what kinda person are u then?

Russia's ability to adapt old stock was always a factor known to Janes but the UK Minstry of Defence bulletins in 2022 to mid-2023 persisted in stating that Russia was short of ordnance. Being from a British military family (alas, not myself having good health to be a hands-on field operative, so my brain was used instead), I was suspicious of the bulletins because it is not a tradition of British armed services to disclose and speculate. Further, the bulletins used a phaded out logo and although the defence administration is colloquially termed the 'MoD', it long ago ceased to be a 'Ministry' and became the Department of Defence. Thus the sources of the bulletins are, at best, from some civil service propaganda branch or, more likely, some amateur venture designed to make money from RU-vid etc. While the USA has aircraft 'boneyards' in deserts containing thousands of assets, these are not maintained and not protected from UV light, dust and oxides. Russia, by contrast, used its empty spaces to store assets of the Soviet era in a maintained underground environment to prevent TNT leakage and fuses tend to kept far away. This is in stark contrast to the US B-61 nuclear aerial bombs stored in Poland and only operable by US personnel -- not by Poland. These are 'dial a yield' weapons and are known to local people to be leaking toxins into the water table. The UK and Turkey also stored these "for" the USAF but the former demanded their return to Los Alamos some years ago. It is likely that Turkey did the same. Other US-only ordnance was stored in Italy for a long time but strong local administrations obliged Rome to have these taken away. Well done Italy for refusing to be used. My own UK took longer and the B-61s were found to been left under airfields no longer on loan to the USAF. No Inquiry seems to have been published but the facts of this recollection from a now old man should be closely monitored by Romania on its 'new' NATO base and by any countries hosting American "guests" because their baggage is often lethal through gross carelessness and conceit. Fun fact on the FABs, inventor Alfred Brooks OBE of the "cookie" 4000 lb bomb in the early 1940s suggested adding folding wings to add precision by the end of 1943 and avoid risks of crew losses in RAF Bomber Command and these worked quite well for that time. By late 1944 when the Nazi air defenses were less effective the wings were used less. Brooks's more famous colleague Sir Barnes Wallis theorized that more complex wings on his 'earthquake' double charge bunker buster 4000lb bombs could allow better precision and retain height after release then shed the wings and hit a given target at supersonic speeds. This was basically a description of what became cruise missiles. US similar developments post-WW2 were the AN-M56 and 'MOP' bombs, which were cancelled. Now we see Russia adding GPS to very big TNT/Torpex bombs and these could increase in size and effect if the current Kiev conflict continues and, of course, does not enter realm of 'tactical nuclear weapons'.
Stop it Steven. You English never cease to amaze us. Every time anyone anywhere, except America, invents anything, you attempt to arrogate the achievement to some English man who had the bright idea before anyone else did, but did not, for reasons you apparently never feel obliged to share, actual make a tangible product out it. The English never had any idea to do this. The English never invented Blitzkrieg; Heinz Guderian did...
@@wellbeing6198 Russia doesn't go all over the globe just on its borders where it has strategic interests. The USA on the other hand thinks that it can meddle with other countries all over the world.
Ist auch schon in Arbeit. Die werden mit dem(n) größten Bomber(n) den die Russen haben aus der Strato abgeworfen. Also aus ca. 40 km Höhe.
Proves that the Russian military is very creative in using existing equipment when it comes to gain an advantage in this war. Way back in time I was always wondering how a so called "command economy" is able to keep up with the greed and profit driven counterparts in the West when it comes to armament be it submarines, intercontinental rockets, nukes or whatever. Their weapons might be less sophisticated but more than good enough to do the job. It's always dangerous to underestimate your adversary.
Ukraine needs boost their ingenuity & invest in innovative efficient weaponry like that one It's inexpensive, yet a very impressive way to recycle outdated bombs
