Big Q Aviation offers flight training along with glider training at Midlothian Texas. This was a bucket list item for me as I’ve always wanted to fly in a glider.
Went up for a Fam Flight with Carol Walker a few days before the eclipse while in Texas anyway. Class act. Her attitude about Safety, AQP and CRM reminded me of the best pilots I flew with in HH-60 picking up soldiers on the battlefield and transporting many to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center on C-17. She ALWAYS had an exit strategy prepared.
Thank you for the video! I was in A&P school in the 80's and we had a Glider that came in for maintenance a couple of times. We basically performed general aviation maintenance even though it was a school. I replaced the windshield on the Glider the last time I saw it. That was a little nerve wracking, as the head instructor told me it was a $1,500 windshield while I was replacing it! Something I didn't understand about the Glider flight. The gentleman in the rear was constantly giving instructions while flying and also for the landing. However, the gentleman in the front was hardly ever touching the control stick, as he was usually holding his camera with both hands. He didn't seem to do anything on the landing, as neither of his hands were near the stick.
Hey Eric! Great video. Carol Walker did my PPL check outta KADS a few years ago, also did my CFI initial with her at JWY as well. At the end of my CFI ride we did a bit of formation with a tow and glider. Was an incredible experience.
