@@johndavies7669 True and I don't judge Glimmer for acting the way she did. She had to take the role of queen at a young age, accept that her mother is gone and deal with the Horde and that was a lot of pressure. Sure, she made horrible mistakes, but who doesn't?

@@johndavies7669 Bringing up Catra is a pretty good point, really. Glimmer and Catra both made huge mistakes. However Glimmer actually wanted to help but because of the whole situation she was in (with her mother first not trustig her enough, then being dead and Glimmer having to be a Queen from one day to the other) she didn't think things trough or trusted the wrong people. She just wanted to do the best but screwed up. Because she was scared and confused. And then there is Catra. Sure she had a horrible time at the hord but people always gave her second chances. Adora asked her countless times to join the rebellion, Scorpia wanted to just stay in the crimson waste because both of them where happy there. But Catras self loathing behavoir and her inablity to admit her mistakes lead to her abusing litterally everyone around her. She wasn't just an abusive jerk to her enemies but also the people she used to call friends. In S5 both Glimmer and Catra got their chances to show that they were better than the mistakes they made. But still people seem to hate Glimmer and say that she's annoying and stupid and only made bad decision even though she always tried her best. But the same people seem to completly forgive Catra even though she litterally was willing to destroy the entire planet despite being warned and begged to not do it because of her ego, abused litterally everyone who ever cared about her or trusted her to the point where even Scorpia, who ALWAYS was on her side, coudn't take it anymore and left. Seriously after S5 the majority of the fandom seems to completly forget all the horrible things Catra did and try to justify it with "sHe WaS aBuSEd HErseLf!!" (being abused in the past doesn't make it okay to abuse others) or "bUt sHE LoVeS aDOra!!" (loving someone and not being able to really handle your feelings is not an excuse to be a terrible person towards litterally everyone around you). Maybe these are the ultimate unpopular opinions but personally I thing that 1. Catra was the most unredemable character (out of the characters who had a redemtion ark), 2. Catras redemtion was done way to fast and there should have been more moments of the others mistrusting her and her suffering actuall consequences for her actions, 3. the relationship between her and Adora isn't really healthy when you consider what Catra did in the past and it as well felt kinda rushed (sure the signs for them feeling like this were there very early but the should have been more...well time needed, especially for Adora who was the abused in this senario, to forgive Catra and allow herself to feel this way)

@@martsanchez2413 Adora made the plans against the Horde which would be the best since she came from the Horde and knew them best. Frosta even admitted that Adora was the one who usually made the plans. And as we can see in Season 1 Glimmer's plans were usually to rush into battle without thinking about an alternative. Not to mention when Glimmer was using She-ra as bait that was obviously Glimmer's made up plan not Adora's especially since Adora was pissed about being used as bait.

Yeah, I’m season 4 I felt bad for why everyone was so angry at Glimmer. She made a mistake. Catra made many many mistakes, and everyone forgave her. But when Glimmer makes one mistake suddenly she’s the worst character.

I agree, she was just trying to do the right thing. Same thing in S4, she made bad decisions but she thought it was for a good reason, until, y'know, it backfired. Also i think that her "annoyingness" is what makes her character human, and it gives her more of a personality. And ofc, thats part of her character develpoment, in S5 she really did become the best version of herself, less selfish and being able to make up for her mistakes. I really enjoyed how she changed throughout the seasons.

well for me it was the fact that adora proved that she was on their side multiple times. She literally saved them plus she was barely fighting back when Glimmer attacked her. All she wanted was the sword. But Glimmer didn’t care. All Glimmer wanted to do was prove to her mom that she was strong. It was just annoying watching Glimmer hold Adora hostage even though she wasn’t a threat. Even Bow knew Adora wasn’t gonna hurt them

Sure removing the guards and giving her a garden is a bit of a stupid idea but still they both worked with her in some way, and with Adora giving the green flag to everyone about shadow weaver after working with her, she can’t blame Glimmer for approaching her too

I think Season 4 was the best in the series. My only complaint is that Entrapta didn't get much screen time, but whenever she did show up, she stole the show in a way that even Double Trouble would be hard pressed to match. Glimmer's character arc was excellent and there was also an excellent build up to Horde Prime's arrival. In comparison, Season 5 was rushed and sometimes clumsy. It had great scenes and Launch is, controversially, one of my favourite episodes in the entire series (I'm autistic and I really appreciate that they treated the condition realistically instead of trying to romanticise it), but it was much more messy than Season 4. The biggest fuck up was that it gave Catra a redemption arc and happy ending. As far as I'm concerned, Adora should have stuck to her "you made your choice. Now live with it" mindset because Catra was easily as bad as Shadow Weaver and very close to being as evil as Horde Prime.

Catra was a villain tho. Doing villain things. When she knew it was wrong. Then she redeemed herself. Glimmer was a good guy. Did evil things. And could not understand it was bad until it literally blew up in her face. Then she redeemed herself. Villains are allowed to do malicious things and get redemption because they knew in the moment it was bad and they have overcome that, Good guys often have this mentality "I didn't know it was bad sorry >.

Alison Brown first of all, glimmer has never been “evil”. being impulsive and confused does NOT mean evil. and she isn’t a “good guy”, she’s a person. during season 4, yes her actions were weird but its not difficult to understand her POV. her mom died, she had to become a queen, she felt like she was left out, and she was desperate to make it all okay. it was obvious there was gonna be some tension. and yes catra IS a villain, so it’s expected she’s evil, but you have to admit she NEVER redeemed herself with scorpia. she literally called her USELESS, said she ruins everything, and attempted to shock her like she did with entrapta, and scorpia obviously loved her. imagine someone you love doing that to you.

I get it tho honestly. Her friends kept making her feel useless and incompetent by pulling that exact same card on her (even if it was with the intent of protecting her), so I can see why she would turn around and use that statement as a means to gain some control. Especially after losing her mother, an event that probably also made her feel very out of control (which she never got the time to properly cope with). I’m not saying Glimmer was in the right, not whatsoever, but I am saying I can understand.

I still love her tho lmao, at least she was serious about changing and doing better.

Don't forget that Adora was trying to help Glimmer and started to come off as a bit overprotective, she and Glimmer stopped actually talking to each other, and Double Trouble and Shadow Weaver were manipulating Glimmer's mind and emotions the whole while.

But I found it ridiculous how people are hating on Glimmer for being mean to Adora for 2-3 times, but at the same time shipping Adora with Catra who almost murdered Adora several times and abused her the entire time till season 5. Glimmer had a better and healthier relationship to Adora, why can't the fandom see that ?

Stubborn, intelligent, narrow-minded, persistent, nice, extremely concerned about her friends, uses her power very effectively, thick bushy hair (season 1-3), Glimmer is also not so beautiful like the other girls, not popular, has 2 friends.

Also, in the first few episodes, Glimmer believes that the Horde KILLED her father. So that’s another reason not to trust Adora.

The thing is both of them make wrong decisions. Catra on season 3 and Glimmer on season 4 to be exact. That's why it was quite interesting and a bliss to see them bond on season 5.

I was pissed off with Glimmer in Season 4 but I didn't outright dislike her. I actually appreciate that the writers had the guts to make her so unlikeable in that season. It was clearly done intentionally as both a response to her grief about her mother and the pressure of being queen in the middle of a war, but it could very easily have turned audiences against Glimmer. I know some people did turn on her but many of these same people love Catra, who was a FAR more toxic person than Glimmer ever was. I like Catra too but Shadow Weaver was right when she retorted "You're one to talk" when Catra accused her of being evil.

Seriously, people fault her for trusting Shadow Weaver after Glimmer previously condemned her as a person, but then forget that Shadow Weaver was intentionally written as a master manipulator. OF COURSE Glimmer trusted her, especially when she was in such a vulnerable place emotionally after losing Angella.
