Glitches in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - DPadGamer 

I actually remember getting the Bowsletta Softlock as a kid. I found it cool lookin'. I loved playing around with the final boss because I found an OP strat, so I played it often enough to randomly find the glitch.

Hearing Cackletta's theme during the game over screen is one of the funniest things I've experienced all week. And the slowed down version of the theme playing during a black screen is even funnier

Hello there, I am one of the main Tool Assisted Speedrunners of Superstar Saga. I just want to thank you so much for making this video and showcasing some of the major glitches in this game. This game is very busted, even if it doesn't seem like it at first glance. There are a whole bunch more glitches, most of which you can find on mugg1991's channel (he is also a TASer of this game who found most of the glitches). If you do a pixel perfect jump near mini Mario then he will join with you without Luigi automatically hammering him. Hit Luigi into the ground twice and then swap after jumping out of the hole, if you spin the game crashes and high jumping sideways will crash too

I'm surprised you didn't mention the Popple and Birdo glitch. It's similar to Jojora's friend glitch in the way it works. If you kill an enemy with the burn effect, some weird stuff can happen. Since Jojora left the screen, you're left with an invisible enemy that can't do anything and the game crashes. However, if you don't counter Jojora, they'll act like their friend is still there, and if they make an attack involving their friend, it'll reappear for the attack and just stand there not able to do anything outside of these attacks. If you defeat Jojora after that, the fight still ends as usual. And as I mentioned earlier, this also works with the Popple and Birdo fight. It actually hapened to me on my first (proper) playthrough not so long ago. Kill Popple with the burn effect, and Birdo will still make the attack where she hides Popple in an egg. Once you've taken him out of the Egg, he will just stand there, and just like with Jojora, the fight will be over once Birdo's defeated. I know all that because I researched it after it happened to me, and the Mario Wiki, that I went on for research on this glitch, called the inactive sprite a "Ghost Sprite". And I made a funny little story with Popple and Rookie with this. So the two stole something and are running away, as they're being chased by many people. Like cops, or a crowd... Suddenly, Popple stop and says "Rookie, you have to burn me with your fire, see ?" Rookie is reluctant but does it, and Popple faints. Rookie grabs him and prepares to continue running away, but he notices that right where Popple was standing before he grabbed him, there's now another Popple. A Ghost sprite/Shadow clone if you will. Popple, still very weak, opens his eyes and says "This is why they call me the Shadow Thief, see ? Now let's get out of here, it'll distract them !" I think it's a funny little story.

This game is epic

A glitch I found is when fighting the Koopalings is that when you reach Larry after the tennis sectio you can actually jump just high enough to reach the platform he’s on with Luigi and then initiate the battle, however when the battle started I was Mario for some reason… I don’t know if it’s possible to do with just Mario, but if anyone is able to then that’s a pretty cool achievement. :)

The editing in this video is top notch. This was a really fun watch overall. While I haven’t played the original GBA game, I have played the 3DS remake and I overall like Superstar Saga. It’s not my favorite game in the M&L series, it’s still a great game.

Oh heck yeah, I'm glad you got a chance to play this. The first Superstar Saga is just so charming! It used the GBA so well, too.

Another glitch you can try in boss battles is damage overflow. Bosses in this game actually all have a fixed amount of HP (I think it's 5,000). They do this so they can run scripts when their HP gets low enough to handle what should happen when they are defeated. This means if you do over 5,000 damage in one move to a boss, you can prevent the "boss is defeated" scripts from running properly. Depending on the boss, this can have all sorts of janky effects. The easiest way to do this is with Mush Badges and Knockback Bros Advance.

I will mention two glitches that are very helpful and can easily be done casually 1. Red Pepper glitch This glitch can work with badges that give you a POW up stat, but it’s mainly used for Red Peppers. If you give a red pepper to any bro, then have that bro faint, and then revived, that bro will then have a permanent POW up for the rest of the fight. Honestly don’t know why it happens but it does Thunder Bros Glitch. When using regular Thunder Bros if you purposely mess up the action command and pressed B once, and then nothing else. The attack will actually will bring the enemies defense to 0. It’s weird why it happens but essentially when doing all action commands, the enemy defense goes down to 33% of its normal defense when hitting 2 out of 3, it’s goes down to a quarter of its defense, and doing just one goes down to 0

I'm clearly gonna try that barrel glitch, it seems incredible. It's the kind of game breaking glitch that I love. It can do very useful stuff but very dumb stuff as well, and I like that.

Something strange happened to me using the SuperCard flashcart, if you do a save state (Not a normal save) inside Bowser's Airship and load the save state, when you move you will get softlocked Idk if this will work on other flashcarts

The editing in this video was so good lmao, I was absolutely dying over both the parts you put screaming over 😂 I'm so surprised there was so many glitches in this game I've never seen before! All I really knew much about was the barrel glitches thanks to speed runs, which is an absolutely fascinating glitch in of itself. Thank you for making this video!

While playing the game, I found a relatively useless glitch, but it doesn’t crash the game In Castle Town, there are two holes next to where you enter a green pipe, and I wanted to see what would happen if Luigi jumps around Mini-Mario, what happened was that Luigi started leading with Mini-Mario behind (normally impossible) which means that the animation of Luigi hitting Mario to return to normal never happens To fix it, just use Luigi Dunk, Mario will somehow regain normal size after that (Btw, you can do this anywhere where you can make Mario into Mini, but Castle Town was where I got it consistently)

Another interesting glitch in the us version, is that if you can deal over 5000 damage to most of the bosses or specially scripted enemies, they will actually die (normally taking them down runs a script or special animation to kill them) which usually breaks or softlocks the game since it is unable to complete the fight as intended. This isn't normally possible bc the fight usually ends much before that, but can be done with the advanced hammer bro attacks because they are infinite if performed correctly.
