Just a short video of her being started earlier today on the 7th of April - you can tell the temperature has plummeted since the last video as to say she struggled to start would be an understatement sadly . . .
This reminds me so much of early turns at Midland Choice, though no extraction for the fumes - they certainly put hairs on your chest! Amazing work Ant!
I remember when Stagecoach had Leyland Olympians at my local depot and i remember one starting from cold and you couldn't see inside it after it started up. Back in the day they must have had daily smoke shows when they had National's, Leopards, VR's, LH's etc along side as well. Some drivers at my local depot say that their clothes always stunk of diesel after a few shifts but they miss the older buses because they said they just kept going. The drivers favorite was the Volvo B10M and many of them would beg the manager for one.
Like I said with another GLJ cold start video from earlier in the year, that dog who gazes at a fan in the TV advert ought to instead gaze at the fan of a National 1, with the proper engine, started from cold. All that diesel clag would give a much more realistic "back on the road" feeling than a breeze wafting his fur. Maybe someone could do a parody, using a soft toy dog, as long as they didn't mind it smelling of clag afterwards...
With the strange temperatures we have had this month its no wonder she struggled. the weather has been both hot cold freezing all in the same day sometimes
