No as much as China and Russia does. Russia is in a active war and have frozen conflicts with many ex sovjet republics. China has active border disputes with almost every country around them and is ready to use force/military to get what they want.

The unites states needs to rebuild its arsenal as its the oldest in the world. Many of which has been from the 60s. They are building from the ground up a completely new system. So its expected.
While I won't argue against updating our nuclear technology, the United States does maintain our aging arsenal better than any other country The current flurry of upgrades came from when the military tested the readiness of a one minuteman missile and it failed Russia had a field day over that one failure, while no one knows how many of their nukes from the 60's and 70's will still work Because they do not maintain or test them They just keep claiming that they are building new nuclear weapons all the time On a budget that is less than what the U.S. spends to maintain its nuclear arsenal
They still test those old silos and missles every now and then not armed of course and it always goes as planned they choose them at random I hear and launch haha.

In Princip its a good thought, Global Nuclear war is terrifying. But without Nuclear weapons ? Russia and China would be a Joke (also N Korea), they would not have a chance against Nato/USA/Japan Ect. So they would never Accept it. If all Nuclear weapons realy was banned, then the Ukraine war would be very different, Nato would have sendt much more help and maybe even fight along Ukrainan forces. Russia would be crushed. So without Nuclear weapons we would likely have more wars, and more death from wars. So its not so easy and how would you ever trust that all Nukes realy was dismantled ???.

Thanks to american aggression, having nuclear weapons provides a guarantee to some extent. Sadam, Gaddafi gave up nukes and they were killed. Nkorea got nukes and is safe for now. Iran will soon follow suit and join the nuclear club.

The problem is there is no authority that can make sure every single country stops creating and maintaining such destructive forces. There will always by tyrants in the world, and if we make laws to prevent nuclear weapons that only the repectable leaders follow, the only ones who willl have nuclear weapons will be the tyrants. That will allow them to go on a rampage for world domination. It's very sad, but as our understanding of science became better, it was inevitable that we end up in this kind of situation. Even the leaders who do not want war have to play this game now. The western countries who do not have a nuclear arsenal are counting on those who have to protect them if it ever comes to it.

I blame Trump His rhetoric about not protecting the United States allies has left a lot of people thinking that they need to get their own nukes or increasing their nuclear capacity Add to that the fact that he killed the treaty with Iran that was keeping them from building a nuclear weapon and you get countries like Saudi Arabia wanting nuclear weapons and Israel wanting to step up the number of nukes that it has I will say that militarily England has really let its military slip under the umbrella of the United States protection and wouldn't be rated as high as they are in military powers if they didn't have nukes
