I've had my Globemaster Annual Calendar for 10 months now and I love it. Every day when I put it on my wrist I am sold (again). The design is not for everyone, but it always creates great interest when people see it for the first time. Design and technology in fantastic combination - I think😊
My guess is because the design just felt kinda meh, i look at the vintage Constellation pie pan and it was one of the most beautiful watch I’ve ever seen(Genta designed it!) and the new one just…doesn’t give me that feel.
A true watch addict! All the reviews always end up talking about the same visual points and not much deeper, so this review video is extremely helpful and appreciated. Thank you again!
Andrew, bought the blue dial Globemaster to celebrate my 40th Birthday which is actually today. Another Signal besides all the facts that this was the right choice...
Great vid! I love mine. Understated and underrated. Fits so many occasions from daily to fancy wear. No one is eyeballing to steal it from me cause it has a crown logo on it. Runs consistently less 2 seconds fast a day and very easy to fix a watch running fast vs one that runs slow. 👍
I was gifted this silver dial GM back in 2018 for my 40th birthday by my brother, and it's my perfect watch. Interestingly enough, I also got it on the leather strap first, and then got the bracelet afterwards. My leather strap is more of a dark gray charcoal, verging on black, and really brings out the blackened hands, logo, star and indices in a beautifully graphic way. I do tend to wear it on the strap more than the bracelet, but I love both. I don't plan on taking this in the pool, so I'm not concerned about a screw down crown. It's definitely not the typical Omega people go for... it doesn't have the licensing deals with movies or the olympics, or the connection to space etc., but it ties in to the legacy of what made Omega great in the first place, Omega winning the time trials over and over again. That really speaks to the core and history of the brand, which I feel is appreciated by people who place more value in a time in watch making where the pursuit of accuracy, quality watch making and a subtle yet elevated everyday watch type of design, was at the core of the brands values. This is the only watch I've worn in the passed 3 years, and I don't see that changing.
you have a great brother, im jealous!!😁 BUT you are spot on, this watch is enough of a watch to be a 1 watch collection, I love mine and love the bracelet but the leather strap is awesome and great quality when I want to mix it up
After going back and forth between the Globemaster and the Aqua Terra I purchased the Globemaster (sight unseen since my local AD didn’t have one) and I am sure I made the right choice. To call the dial simply “silver” or “white” understates it’s level of refinement and elegance. The rhodium plated hands shift between an almost black to an almost platinum appearance - very captivating. On strap (my preference) it has a warmer presence than on bracelet. Versus the Aqua Terra the Globemaster leans a little more dressy but in an understated way due to the brushed finish. Perfect for me because I don’t like the high bling finish on many dress watches. I love the fluted tungsten bezel though I have to say that Rolex does this style of bezel better. And the medallion on the caseback is cool and unique. My only issue is that the Globemaster is the most difficult to wind of all my watches because, as was said in this review, it lacks a screw-down crown. But I can live with it.
I had to choose between JLC Ultra Thin Master and Omega Globemaster for my 29th birthday and I settled down for the Globemaster. I am still surprised how underrated this watch is, the official AD did not even have it in their list and they were surprised I wanted to order one.
I also had the same issue with the fact that is missing the screw down crown, but then I appreciated the ease to wind the movement, without having to unscrew and screw it back into place :)
Amazing purchase, incredible practical horological technology and beautiful aesthetics! Adore my blue dialed Globey (bracelet and official blue leather strap) since 2017! Welcome to the club 😊
Glad you featured another episode on this. I think a review a year or so on after you get a watch will really let us know what the day to day with it has gone, and I'm really glad you still love it...or love it more. Even better that it was that gift from your parents. I think that's as good looking a bracelet as I have seen and really cool how the taper works in both directions. I guess that is luxury for you? So yeah a bit weird those gaps along the side, but there is always gonna be something. I love this watch. Really happy you do too!
Cheers mate,,, as always you take the time to watch and listen, it’s always really appreciated, thank you. It’s definitely a lot of luxury in this watch but as watch enthusiasts we (I do any way!) tend to unintentionally look and find minor faults….. I definitely need a new hobby!🤣
It works really well as a replacement for the Datejust. That is actually why I never bought one. I don't need it cuz I have the DJ. But if I had to do it all over again, I would go with the Globemaster.
I love Omega. Hands down, probably my favorite brand. I've gotta say, it broke my heart, when you got rid of the orange and white ceramic, "Planet Ocean." It's my dream watch, really. I do really like the "Globemaster," though. I feel it's a more mature watch, and one of Omega's timeless designs. I own quite a few all/majoraly brushed finish, timepieces. It's a characteristic I seek out in my purchases. I prefer the look of a small amount of mixed finishing techniques, but the fingerprints, and micro-scratches drive me batty. With the scratch resistant tungsten-bezel, you get some of that mixture, without some of the negatives I've described. To me, you've got the ideal "everyday watch." I didn't say perfect, but damn close to it I think. Good for you. Wear it in good health....
This and some of the Tresor offerings have caught my eye. Quite stunning, a watch that can be used for dressier occasions with zero fussiness. I’m not one to wear a bracelet, ever, so it’s no issue for me. The pie plate dial is too cool. I’ve got a Railmaster with a brushed black dial, typically it’s simply a bottomless only black dial, but at certain angles with directional light, the brushing comes to light and the dial’s color can change radically. A fabulous watch and this is really one that’s got my attention ruin suddenly.
The globemaster is a beautiful and classic timepiece with modern technology. The only watch that I like better is the Aqua Terra which I own. Only slightly better in my opinion. The size of the globemaster is perfect. Congratulations on your watch. Wear it well and enjoy it.
Was flicking through RU-vid feed this morning, next flick, next flick, next flick and ooh la la up pops my favourite fellow addict, Andrew. Mate that a beautiful watch, sentimental, will be a treasure and keep sake forever no doubt. I see the gaps in the bracelet though and feel for you mate. Lol. Don’t we notice the most minuscule things, but the difference is getting over it and enjoying them for the good bits. Understated yet sporty, has it all really. Enjoy, Life’s too short.
Oh hello!!!!! Not really seen these much before. No slight on my character obviously. But very nice. Do they come in other dial colours?? I've been eyeing up the Aqua Terra with a green dial for the spring/summer but think I might have a look at these now. Cheers
This is a stunning watch - I was at the Omega AD to buy a seamaster aqua terra and I chanced upon this - I was sold in 5mins, bought it and forgot about the seamaster.
Beautiful watch, serious contenter versus my Explorer 214270, but I wish it had a screw down crown. I always feel more comfortable with that level of security for a daily wear
Yes...amazing that this isn't standard...It's not as if Omega don't know how to do it. Top brands often fail to do the obvious. I'd include screw in pins on bracelets.
For me personally it would of felt too small at 36mm - it probably wouldn’t of been but it takes some time to adapt!! There was a time 39mm was a big no no 😂
@@watchandrew I see your point, but for me it's really hard work to find watches that suit me perfectly because I'm already a bit old and my wrist measures a little bit less than 6.5 inches. Thanks for the feedback, man. Nice video.
I agree, this is great. I went with the Railmaster tho and dont look back - but puhh thats a watch. Where did you get that poster or flag of the movement from? I have been looking for something like that with the movement from the railmaster but cant find anything.
@@ppatpparis Its a great watch, but dont get fooled by taking it as an alternative to the explorer. They have a completely different vibe and feeling to it.
I just love this watch!!! I am tossing and turning to sell my AQUQ TERRA day date to purchase a GM,STILL UNSURE WHAT TO DO,help me with advice anybody please!!!
Yeah it’s beautiful 🤩 omega are doing lovely things lately, think 🤔 I prefer it to your date just, by the way do you miss your Rolex date just? Can’t believe you’re selling your seamaster though
@@watchandrew wait - is it only 46mm?! I tried this watch on at a boutique last year and it felt big. Maybe it’s the case shape! Maybe I was just being super picky that day…
This watch, if it was perfect, it would be boring! I have it and I enjoying it a lot. No watch in my collection looks like it, even the white dial 39mm Rolex op.
Definitely depends on the lighting,,, but most lighting it's a white or off white - never bright white and only sometimes can you see that's not ya actually'silver' - hope that makes sense!!
Not a model I have ever looked at in any detail. It’s really nice (not over 6k nice), with a great set of specs ah but then there is the massive fly in the ointment for me the fluted bezel. Trying to be nice here.. bite tongue bite tongue… but I really don’t like them. 😕 Cracking review though, promise to like the next one. Soz
