I’m 22 and have had my Glock 42 for almost a year. It’s my primary Carry because I can always carry it. There’s no excuse to not bring it along. Recoil is soooo light. Reliability for me has been 100% Here in 2020 I think a lot of people are looking into p365 and hellcats. But I’m telling you. The Glock 42 is a beast and even in todays market it is my favorite carry gun
First off, great review. Enjoyed your no-nonsense approach. I just purchased a new G42 in October of 2022. Even with all the newest offerings out there. I had two different brand new out of the box Ruger LCP Max pistols and both had constant feed problems with all types of ammo. I try to break in the guns with ball just to make it easier and neither gun functioned properly. I have a Ruger Max 9 and it has always ran reliably, so I'm not knocking the brand of Ruger. However, if I can't trust the gun I won't carry it. This will be my 3rd Glock 42 since 2014 and I had zero problems with any of them. Glocks are boringly reliable. I keep looking for exciting things like higher capacity and nicer sights. The Ruger LCP Max seemed like it had all the answers... great sights, even with a night sight on the front post, great capacity... I mean 12+1 with their bigger magazine is phenomenal with a small gun, but it was almost too small. It was not fun to shoot, even when it did run. It was a dream to carry, but the G42 while small, just fits my large hands better. I trust Glock implicitly. I've got a Glock 27 40 S&W that also shoot well, but is a bit chunky to conceal carry sometimes. Glock 42 is still relevant in today's market. I've carried a 5 shot .38 special snub and felt well armed, there's no reason why 6+1 of .380 isn't a bit better. Great review sir. I liked and subbed your channel.
I carry a G42 or a snub nose 357 myself, and like you said no reason to feel under armed unless you just can't shoot. If it's out of range with either then it's probably gonna be hard to convince the jury it was self defense and not murder.
Great video! It took me two years, but I have become very fond of the 42. I was like the others and complained it was too large for pocket carry and too large for .380. I was wrong. It's a wonderful pocket gun, and finally I have a pocket gun I love to shoot. And with Glock you can add night sights, connectors or whatever you feel it needs. I love mine.
Good video. I have become a big Glock 42 fan. My wife loves hers, and I have two. I carry one on my person daily now (pocket) where I wasn’t carrying a larger handgun on my person daily before. I sent all of our G42s back to Glock to be updated (early models) and the difference in trigger pull and smooth feeding is noticeably better. Ours have been totally reliable before and after the update. The recoil is very light. The G42 is very shootable and carries easily. With a magazine extension for a full grip, the G42 can also be used to teach new shooters since recoil is minimal.
Nice video, very informative. Just got my 42 last week. I've put 100rds through it so far . It's worked flawlessly. My first Glock, will be getting the 19 or 26 next .
I'd love one. It fit my hand like nothing else, and I have medium/large hands. The 43 didn't feel right....Butt they don't seem to be 100% yet. Maybe with iteration 04. Also .380 is priced nearly as high as.45...Which makes no sense!
I carry mine alot especially in summer with shorts and tank top, in desantis pocket holster. Mine has never jammed, or had an issue. It is a larger gun but more shootable, and has alittle more velocity downrange. I also do not like the glock sights...that is the first and usually the only thing that gets replaced.
KSGunGuy glockster68 I love mine. I’ve had it for a year and it has been flawless and is still very relevant. I carry mine the same way during the warm to hot weather months. I added a Tlr-6 and put Glock night sights on mine. This pistol also serves as a backup to my Glock 27/357 sig conversion pistol.
Bought my wife the g42 earlier this month. Ran the heck out of it. 400 rounds of range ammo...Winchester, Remington, and Blazer Brass 95 grain. And 90 rounds of Federal HST 99 grain and Hornday CD 90 grain. Ate them all with zero issues. So, I changes out the sights and added the crimson trace on it. Oh, installed the magguts in the flat base plate and bought an extra mag and added the pearce plus on extension on the other two before I took it to range. Again, zero issues. Now my wife has the perfect purse or iwb CCW!
Icy Fan I just installed magguts to mine yesterday. Easy to install. Going to test mine at the range today. Add a Tlr-6 to it and it will be a great ccw for day and night. I use a sticky holster for pocket carry and have a $30 kydex holster for iwb carry.
Got mine when they first came out. Everyone has an option about the 380 cal. I happen to find this cal. just fine. Hit someone 1 to maybe 6 times and it works great. The bad guy will think differently about getting up. Any one who droughts the 380 cal please step in front of my muzzle and inform me what's it like. Great video-- Thank you
I never thought i'd get a .380 again. The only reason i'm picking one up is because my girls are older(almost 12 and 16). While it's fun to shoot .22 they're kinda getting bored. Plus i want them to have a stronger caliber, just in case i'm not home and they have something to protect themselves. We'll move onto 9mm when they are confident and proficient with .380. On a side note, they did ask recently to get a .22 rifle. I'll end up getting the Ruger 10/22 take down. I've been meaning to get one for some time.
CWB1863 that's awesome CWB! The 42 is a great choice for them. As for the Ruger, check for recalls. I think there may be one right now. Cheers brother!
Glock sights are fine. I don't get why everyone whines about them. You get a distinct front and back. I just wish they glowed when hit with a flashlight.
I shoot just fine with the stock sights, nothing wrong with them. I put night sights on my 19, as it's more of an "all purpose" pistol. My 43 still has stock sights though. It's purely a personal preference, in my opinion.
Glock 42 fits perfectly. It’s my hot weather carry. Get the +2 extension and you’ll feel better about the capacity. Hides very well and the most accurate and soft shooting .380 I’ve shot.
Thank you for the question! I don’t but only so I can bring new guns to the channel. The 42 remains a favorite 380. I’d be happy to own one again. Cheers!
Just buy the G25. Fuller size like the G19. 15 rds, 4" barrel. 9mm Kurz, 9mm Short, .380acp, 9mm luger ALL make the same size hole in your target . Oh, and the bullet doesn't know what material the sight is made from. You hit the target didnt you. Pily, steel, silly putty? You hit the target. Your done in 5 minutes. Save your breath. All Glocks are industry standard. Your done.
Be careful with aftermarket slide stops for this pistol. Lots of chatter about them not locking back. I returned a Ghost one for that reason. The Tyrant Design one works, but it really sticks out and is expensive. Sticking out is it great if it’s a concealed carry gun for you.
I carry the G42 Daily in my front pocket with a +2 extension and feel very safe I practice with 50 rnds 3 times a week and enjoy shooting it with it's very light recoil I carry with Remington 88 Grn Hallow Point and have added orange and blacked out rear sights and a cut slide Nice old review Regards, Rick
I've always liked them. I believe slot of You Tube reviewers are just regurgitating what other reviewers are saying because it's the in thing to do. Bersa used the same sights on their combat models.
The sights . You hit the target don't you ? The bullet doesn't care if the sight is poly, steel or silly putty. 9 mm Kurz, 9mm short 9x17mm, .380 ACP and 9x19mm Luger all make the same size hole in a target. Enter the Glock G25 .380acp with 4" barrel, and same size as the G19. 15 rounds. There you go in 5 minutes. That's the story. Save your breath.
Great clip, very informative to me, love this Model and I am actively searching as we speak. I wanted a pocket pistol here in the heat belt that I would take daily. Looked , watched , studied, all of those 380 models, and do love them all but this fits the bill for what I am trying to accomplish which is pocket / ISW , dependable , and yes Glock made Be well
Picked mine up for $360.00 on Gunbroker, used, but closer to brand new. Only had one clip, but took it out the range and it ran fine with Fiocchi .380 rounds. Still puzzled as to why the trigger does not return automatically without being racked, actioned again. My SIg P365 returns when dry fired and not actioned, racked again. Sadly, the racking is too stiff for the wife, but I've got a S&W M&P Shield EZ .380 that works fine for her being able to manipulate.
Excellent video! Just a small point that the range footage didnt show the results at target or distance, which would be useful to know. I have the G42 gen3, its perfect for the range and concealed carry, maybe not deep concealed/ pocket carry. Its shoots beautifully up to 10m even with my skills and its easy to shoot rapidly without much loss of accuracy. Totally reliable, nice trigger, no fumble safety. Personally, I find it easier to shoot accurately with 380acp and am quite sure its more than adequate for self defence.
Thank you very much! I now bring the targets back in to make it easier to see the results. I agree, the G42 is a fantastic option and performs many roles. Cheers!
tyrailr the 3 means that it the 3rd upgrade for the magazine, not the pistol. The recoil spring has also been upgraded with either a 1 and a 0 or a 1, a 0 and a 2 on the rear of the recoil spring. Glock will replace older mags with the 03 mags at no charge.
Glock 42 or 43 as well as all the follow-on single stacks(?) are all FIRST-RUNS that carry the Generation 5 (yes 5) improvements. Not all excluded the dual slide release. Only the G42 does NOT have the Marksman Barrel, so what. That’s why there is NO GEN Markings on their slides that was started with Generation 4 platforms. Markings on the Magazines only indicate CHANGES or improvements to that specific magazine that could exclude its follower, spring or baseplate that Glock felt it needed.
Well 380 ok a bit undepowe but here its th detail when you use underwood extreme defender +p performing similar at 9mm w otatanding capabilities concealed🤠
My every day carry is a Glock 42 with Trijicon HD XR Night Sights and a 9 round ETS magazine fitted with an XGRIP for a full three-finger grip. I load the magazine with 8 rounds maximum, plus one in the chamber, to ensure 100% reliability. Ammo of choice is Underwood Extreme Penetrator 380+P. This combination has very little recoil, is very controllable and EXTREMELY accurate! I carry it 24/7 in a DeSantis Nemesis Pocket Holster and honestly it's so light and compact that I forget it's there. The best self-defense pistol is the one you never leave home without!
I have a Glock 42 with green Crimson Trace laser sight and +2 Vicker's Tactical magazine extensions, it all goes into an excellent pocket holster and fits just fine in my pants pocket. It is comfortable to shoot and great for those with less hand or finger strength and / or recoil shy.
@@srsatlaf4730 Sweet!! Thanks so much for the info and your extremely quick reply! I will look into that one, so thank you so much and you have a great rest of your day!! 😊
