*Wear gloves (nitril, latex, vinyl, etc) to keep lead from getting on your skin while cleaning guns FYI. Lead a neurotoxic metal that harms the glial cells of the brain. I work with lead acid batteries professionally, so I know a lot more about lead safety than the average person. As a scientist with a background in chemistry, toxicology & environmental science, I am warning you to wear personal protective equipment because your skin absorbs things. Also using solvents exposes you to airway hazards, so do you gun cleaning in a garage, workshop or other area away from foods, the kitchen etc. Make sure you use solvents in a well vented area & avoid storing solvent soaked rags in a bin *leave them outside to evaporate & dispose of the materials ethically in accordance with local laws in your area. Also be careful when storing solvents, flammable substances like gasoline, alcohol, etc. Store in a sturdy fire resistant cabinet away from sources of ignition like a natural gas furnace, water heater, stove, etc.

Also make sure to protect your esophagus with a layer latex before you drink water from the faucet, the water is Contaminated with safe levels of lead and chlorine but they are both potentially dangerous and you shouldn’t trust your body to safely deal with them

Only certain organic lead compounds not covered by the standard, such as tetraethyl lead, can be absorbed through the skin. The only concerns about the lead a person will encounter when cleaning a firearm are the concerns of ingestion or inhalation. I'm all for gun safety but stating that the lead encountered when cleaning firearms is absorbed through the skin is simply not true. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration website states this, so if you're experienced with handling lead I assume you have read this: www.osha.gov/laws-regs/regulations/standardnumber/1910/1910.1025AppA

Thanks for making an emphasis on a visual check on the chamber to make sure the weapon is unloaded without question. Too many people skip this step and it not only ends up harming them but in rare it also harms those around them because we all know that bullets don’t just stop after they hit dry wall or what not. I really appreciate how conscientious you were of this aspect of gun safety that is often times over looked so from me to you, thank you VERY much!!

Lisa Spence The American Gun Institute cleans there guns with Simple Green and hot water. You can Google that. There are many RU-vid videos showing Glocks in ultra sonic machines. Toss the gun in some hot water and a bit Simple Green. Let it sit for five minutes scrub it up with a toothbrush and clean barrel. Rinse with hot water and dry with cloth and hair dryer. You can feel how clean. Lube it up and your good to go.

Avoid running a dry brush through your barrel without wetting it first. Not because you will damage anything but because you WILL have powder residue inside your barrel, and running a dry brush in it will basically throw said powder everywhere like a cloud of dust. You will breath it, you will put it on your furniture and clothes and if you can avoid doing such a thing by wetting the barrel first you should do so.

@EverettVinzant
@EverettVinzant 5 лет назад
deucedeuce22oz Your keyword “god” does nothing for the Republic. This is why there is a separation clause. Religion is the codification (organization) of belief. Belief is the acceptance of claims without evidence. The only hate I have is towards the acceptance of claims without evidence (or the acceptance of claims despite evidence, what we call faith). I hate the acceptance of claims without evidence (despite evidence) because it does nothing to strengthen arguments. The only way (belief/faith) support knowledge is to give someone motivation to discover those things that are concordant with reality (truth). So what I was saying is, I don’t understand why people are taking a stand that is concordant with reality and then invoke mythology and weaken their argument. Why would I want/like a weaker argument? Why would you hope my hating of weak arguments is “removed from my heart?” How would anyone benefit from that?

sootch00 Hey I have a question if you have a moment: during the inspection the slide stop doesn’t snap back down smoothly (G26 gen 3, basically like new, as only been fired roughly 50 times in years so maybe not “broken in” yet?) It does “snap” but it takes me pushing it down, it’s not smoothly like in your video. I tried it on a G19 (also Gen 3) and it snaps down smoothly just like in your video, without me forcing it, but the G19 when purchased already had been fired/used a lot. Not sure if it’s suppose to snap back down always or if it takes time to “break in” before it’s more smooth - kinda like the trigger. BTW: thanks for the video! Just subscribed! This video is way better than trying to read it from Glock’s website!

Glocks are easy to clean simply field strip and place in dishwasher make sure the plastic is on the top rack LOL then throw it in a sock toss in the spin dryer oil reassemble and shoot. PS. Don't do this... Good video I love cleaning my guns takes a bit of time but my OCD wont let me stop until I can take a white cloth rub it in all places and comes out white then oil I spend about hour to an hour in a half on each gun but I completely disassemble the slide every time and yes I know I do not have to do this every time but dam it feels good to know its perfect. Glock set a standard that no one was able to match or compete with. Their design is nearly 30 years old and was state of the art from the very start which nearly each pistol maker has tried to copy without violating patent laws. Glock has made some changes to the design here and there but its still the original design.

This is the best instructional Glock cleaning video that I've see. I recommend this for any gun instructional classes. It's very no-nonsense, straight ahead, military SOP type stuff--my favorite way.

My methodology to this is so much simpler: 1. I disassemble as shown 2. I dip my bore brush in the solvent, then scrub 3-4 times, dipping in between, until I'm confident that the build-up is loosened from the rifling (I clean after every time I shoot, so usually it's not very dirty) 3. I follow with the jag dry until I get clean patches 4. I go over everything else with a microfiber cloth 5. I oil the slide rails fairly well 6. I oil the feed ramp of the barrel and the trigger mechanism lightly 7. I reassemble

$10 will get you a jar of C5A large enough to last a lifetime. Just clean how you must with solvent, and carefully apply a little more with a toothpick along the slide rails before reassembly.

@@aaronroszczewski7267 Bad idea! It's mildly abrasive. That's why it's for the break-in period only. I use it on ar builds between the barrel and upper, but there's no friction there, and is used solely to make sure the barrel can be removed later, plus protect against two different type of metals making contact.

@andrewneidinger646
@andrewneidinger646 5 лет назад
I never use a dry brush. Usually spray the gun with remoil or some kind of gun cleaner and then brush with a nylon brush. Then I go through with patches or a rag and clean everything up and wipe it dry. Then ill take Q tips to the rails. Cleans things up alot nicer. Then ill wait about 10 minutes to make sure everything is dry then lube it. Only things i use to clean is remoil. Nylon brush. Nylon barrel brush. And patches. And it cleans up real easy aslong as you clean it after every time you shoot it
