Both had some tail swishing going on.. and at the the end total wanted his head and never got it .. and during the performance his nose touches his neck many times … and his head was constantly bobbing but I’m not sure if that’s a bad thing… Toto’s tail was swishing the most.. but both looked a bit stressed to me
Let us suppose that these jerky passage steps are harmful in the long run. If you ride your horse daily like this, the horse will develop unsoundness. If your horse jumps 1,60m every day on bad footing, he will develop unsoundness. This does not imply that these horses will develop unsoundness. There is a validity of artistic expression. As long as this happens in a show, with a clear understanding that this type of movement is harmful in the long run, there is nothing to say against doing this for very limited amounts of time. I don't think they are ridden like this all the time. Let us strive to become better riders for OUR horses. Let us count the times OUR horses became unsound and we were oh so unlucky, but we are so very classical, oh yes, we are just unlucky that our horses went lame. Or the horses of the persons who educated us about the evils of Gals of this world. We are responsible for OUR horses. We are not responsible for spitting venom at others. Gal is responsible for his horse. He is responsible for his future soundness and his happy retirement.
Let me repeat this once more. Showing this in a dressage ring should bring in 4s and 5s. Doing this in the daily training would be crazy Russian spectacular car crash bad. But these horses have this crazy forehand action built in, almost like gaited horses have the things they do, so where else to display what they can do than in a circus setting like this?
A horse could not do this without fitness, and a very good rider. The only difficulty I saw was the blazed one pulling, and paying the price in that moment, with all the excitement. The high stepping is bred in them, simply refined in training. They had their hocks under them, where they should be for elevation, stacks of impulsion. I think a great deal of Gal, and I watched Totilas's decline when he was taken off him, he really didn't like the next bloke at all. I think everyone must be extremely jealous. I don't understand all this venom.
@@louisecassidy5991 Totilas was broken with Gal too. Ever thought about how Totilas suddenly performed again once Rath warmed him up in severe rollkur? Gal is a disgrace to dressage. Looking at Total US breaks my heart, especially seeing how it's gone downhill.
Don't be fooled. Edward's horse doesn't move like this naturally. He has the same movements as minderhoud's horse, it's only Edward's genius as a rider that allows this horse to move like this. Which one is it? Toto or Total?
Sylla Atlas.....yes its Gal`s genius but not knowing or not that skilfull people are blind and even in Gal`s clinic he said it ..... this (simple ) no gas and holding at same time thing ...its written down by Baucher and Nuno Oliveira available for everyone ....but there are mostly riding workers judging about others and a few riding artists enjoying what they`ve checked out by themselves meanwhile....smile
They look like driving horses. Gelderlanders or the old British Hackney horse. The knee rises above the elbow. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DyfXtygmVV4.html
@@michaelaweiler1036 Ich bin nicht Ignorant. Das möchte ich feststellen. Ich weiß was sie mit Totilas gemacht haben. Ich liebe Pferde Ich hatte selbst eins. Jeder hat seine Meinung.
I did not cry. Gal knows what he is doing. I watched the decline of Totilas after Gal was taken off, he hated his new rider. These were working correctly off their hocks, and obviously bred with the step. The blazed one is a tough horse. Maybe all you nay-sayers never got control of a tough horse. Man has been working horses for thousands of years, we've only been off them for about 150. Equitation became dressage. The old techniques are alive today. And if you want to know how they do it, LET YOUR STIRRUPS DOWN!
Gal broke Totilas. Ever thought about how he flailed his frontlegs and performed again once Rath warmed him up in rollkur? Open your fucking eyes, Gal rode Totilas in rollkur.
There are still true equestrian masters that honour the horse, not though show performances but through year's of dedication slow training A partnership is never one-sided but communication between horse and rider. Understanding, kindness and respect
The forelegs in the passage are so exaggerated that I don’t believe the horse (with the blaze) will remain sound. Putting on a show this extreme is selfish and ego-driven and is not in the best interest of the horse. It’s too bad.
This actually reminded me of Tennessee Walkers... 😱 Just look at the underdeveloped hind legs - in relation to the forelegs, losing tact - and there is certainly nothing relaxed about this. Simply horrible
Sarcasm. After watching this, I saw a Tennessee walker video, which the horse looks like a freaking alien...doing a “rack”...it didn’t look much different than the horse with the blaze in passage. That’s what bothered me. (I am quite familiar with dressage) the extremely animated knee is really on the edge of a rack-like gait. I’m not the only one who has this opinion. I know these are considered the top breeding stallions for dressage but the distance from natural movement is worrying
MBZ Metalsmithing I’m so happy we had our little chat here on RU-vid because I just checked out your jewelry site and bought the wild mustang pendant!! I love it! Your work is beautiful. Thank you.:)
You know what I see when I watch this?? I see gorgeous animals who will have a lifetime of hock injections, inflammitories, and pain meds. The poor horse on the left (at the very end, when they were finished) just wanted to have his head and he wasn't allowed. Just can't watch.
ThePaulahoo1 Thank you. It was a tragic display. Gal is such a gifted rider, but he has failed his horses. Shame on him and the crowd for egging it on.
как буд-то вас кто-то заставляет смотреть)) какого ляда вы тут со своим мнением зависли?) если не разбираетесь, так и не лезьте туда, где ничего не смыслите.........
That moment at the end was the bit that punched me in the gut. I was waiting throughout for Total US to have his moment of release and he didn’t get it. Edward certainly didn’t give him an inch with his head throughout, aside from the free walk. As much as I object to these training techniques, Totilas visually ‘pulled them off’, in a sense. I think that was partly down to his conformation - he was compact with a short thick neck and his self carriage was naturally upright even as a 5 year old. But also because he always looked willing and game, and I can only think that was because he and Gal were a partnership. He didn’t look willing or game in rollkur with Rath. Total US is either very explosive and naturally disengaged, or he’s demonstrating everything that’s wrong with this kind of training. He looks like a caricature :(
Seeing Total US Grand Prix debute made me set my goal to become amazing at dressage and then critique the FEI, Edward Gal, the judges and the people egging this shit on. Wanna join in?
Reading your comment shows u know not much about dressage,it takes 7 yrs of strengthening work to build the correct muscle & Topline,so the horse can take more weight behind thus freeing up the forehand, this is collection
He's moved like his father Moorland Totilas. There was many discussions about it, when Totilas brake record in dressage with 90%. But I saw some home videos from stables and he moved same)
all the people here below with so negative comments I suppose have no idea of the right timing of impulsion when riding a horse , only a few in the world have it, thats what happens about extraordinary riders so people think cause they never felt this under their butt thats not normal , they are speechless having no words to explain so they say this must be bad instead of asking how does this E.Gal get this horse so extraordinary cause everyone can watch the former videos of Total US with Ms. van Liere
Pferdecoach ....I agree totally with you. I do not understand the venom. I saw Totilas under Gal, and noted that the subsequent rider never had the same relationship, and the horse went into a decline. I know that Gal knows what he is doing. That blazed horse is a bit tough, but it was all a bit too exciting. Horses have to be really fit to get that much elevation, get their hocks under them, and I loved it, admired it, and was shocked to find all the negative comments.
People only react so negative cause never felt that power with their ridden horses or many are afraid if horse is powerful, smile , but talking about dressage like Professors...this is collection what means collecting energy
and in collection senses of horses are stripped.....but this a phenomenon that Not doing better People with less skills trotz to comment something negative via Internet Talk maybe cause of jealousy
Well, obviously he moved differently with his old rider. The videos I found of van liere riding him are 2.5 years older than this one, a lot of time for a horse to develop more collection
Fiona....I never meant that van Liere was riding Total US bad, that horse was from the beginning busy looking and thats good.....not to kill the power of a horse is important and everyone can watch E.Gals clinics when he talks about the value of a small trot, the pony trot .....but people have no ears or eyes ..I dont know why.... maybe half knowing people are insecure and then jealous ....I hope all the best for E.Gall and that horse, I would enjoy to see them in the future at their best
All the germans being bitter about Totilas again. Just admit that Matthias was not as good as Edward. Stop the hate on Edward, it is not true. His way of riding is bringing out the best in every horse he meets. It is not forced, it is completely relaxed.
