Glock vs Sig P320 Torture Test 

I woke up thinking I haven't pissed off enough Glock fans so in the video we are torture testing a Glock 19 gen. 3 head to head with a Sig Sauer P320. This is for entertainment purposes so don't take it too personal. I get it, you like your Glock, it's a fine pistol. Just don't let it get dirty... My boss had a slow water leak in his house that dripped on a small safe and ruined a glock 19 he had in it. Apparently the gun sat in water for a very long time. The front 1/3 of the slide was rusted so bad it fused to the barrel. He took to gun store that told him it would cost almost as much as a new gun to fix it so he just gave it to me. I used a wire wheel to clean off the rust and a pipe/hammer to break the slide free. Took it apart, cleaned off all the rust, replaced the recoil spring and the sights. Put $49.00 into it and it runs perfect now.

Lesson learned. If an intruder is in my house don’t dip my guns in mud. Got it.

The Sig definitely had more problems early on in the test but prevailed towards the end. In conclusion, both pistols performed beyond the standards anyone would need (including the military).

Both are fine guns. I put over 10,000 rounds on a P320 when they first come out without a hitch. But I carry a Gen 5 G19. You can torture test any gun to the point it will not run. For me the question is,… how easy is it to FULLY disassemble a nonfunctional gun and clean it in the field. IMO that FCU on that Sig is considerably more complicated than the trigger bar/connector of the Glock. Not hammering on Sig, I bought my daughter a P320. Just my 2 cents. 💪🇺🇸

I enjoy these torture tests. It’s good to see what will absolutely shut your gun down. The big takeaway for me is that I’m most likely never going to be shooting a gun in a real scenario under these conditions, but it’s still good to take note that even guns with a great reliability record (like the Glock and Sig) can and will malfunction when placed into certain situations.

Happy with my Sig. But i am pretty sure Glock is no less reliable than p320. Great video.

I like these torture test videos. They’re entertaining and they do offer some value in showing the reliability of platforms. Yes, the circumstances are a bit unrealistic, but it’s still interesting to see what platforms will push through unrealistic conditions. What I’ve learned watching videos like this is that no gun is exempt from failure, and that there are a lot of good options on the market from old to new designs. At the end of the day whether you go with sig, glock, hk, cz, beretta, etc. etc. it doesn’t matter. Just pick something that you like and train with it. Also, that Texas heat is no joke lol

Moral of the story. Don't dunk your guns in mud and sh!t. If you do, give it a thorough cleaning and greasing.

My Glock 43X is the first Glock I’ve owned, and the P320 was the first sig I’ve owned. Honestly love both guns, and have never had a issue with either one. I loved the grip angle on my 320, but as a full size I had trouble concealed carrying it. That’s why I tried the 43X I have now. I do really love the grip on the 43X though.

Kinda cool that Glock has been compared to the sig 226 for so long but years later is being compared to newer market offerings like the 320. Just puts into perspective how ahead of it’s time the design really was. Both awesome guns. I’d love to have the sig too but I’m happy with my 19 gen 4

The problem with Sig triggers isn't that they don't go off when you want them to...it's that they go off when you don't want them too

This was very fun to watch. As a p320 fan i am very pleased to see the glock breaking down and the p320 passing through with relative ease. In defense of the glock and the 320, no matter how "reliable" any gun is, if mud or anything gets in the slide, it will stop it.

I was looking to upgrade from S&W into something else. After reading and researching for weeks, I came down to Sig and Glock. I just want something that’s going to work and can withstand normal wear and tear. This video really helped in my decision making. Thanks!!! Keep up the great work!!!!

I have a number of Sig handguns and although I don't toss my weapon in the dirt and mud, in the windy desert I get plenty of sand in the slide. The only problems I have is what you experienced in this video with the slide occasionally not returning fully into battery. I do find that it seems to impact them more when they are new, after a few thousand rounds through the gun I rarely experience this even at a particularly windy morning in the Nevada desert for a match.

Really the lesson of the video is don't drop your guns in mud.

The 320 looks like a high-point, Top heavy

These are all worst case scenarios for your gun. Obviously your average person unless thrusted into the apocalypse will probably never find themselves in a situation where there firearm gets this dirty. But if you own either gun you should feel good that your firearm will run in some of the harshest conditions when you need it too.

I used to have a G34 in 9mm and a G41 in 45 ACP for sport shooting. Replaced the G41 against a 1911-modell because it promised more accuracy in static disciplines. Yes, the 1911 gives me some more rings at the range, but it is not that gain you would expect according to price, as the price of the 1911 was more than threetimes that of the G41. Additionally reliability of the G41 was outstanding. Maybe 1 failure by 1000 rounds, no matter what ammo was feeded. My highly sophisticated super precise 1911 is very prone to jams (stove pipes and double feed) and takes nothing else than full metall jacket round balls

I own both a Glock 19 and a p320 xcarry and love both. Even with the slight stress test it's nice to see the p320 shine after a little water good info to have for sure

I own a G17 and a full size P320. They’re both fine guns, but I’d pick the Glock as my “go to war” gun every time due to it having fewer internal parts and an overall simpler design and function. Fewer things to fail at the wrong time.

The moral of the story is not to throw my $750 gun into a mound of mud! I like this kind of video; thanks!

Fun video thanks! I really like both of these but I'm currently on a Sig (365xl and 320) kick. The Sigs seem to fit me a little better and make it a little easier for me to shoot them well. But Glocks are great, I carried a G26 for a long time.

Excellent video and test. I have Glocks and a Sig 320X pro and love them all. They’re all very rugged and reliable pistols. There’s so many variables in tests like these you have to just kinda take them with a grain of salt. I’ve seen similar tests where the Glocks come out on top (MAC’s gauntlet comes to mind). It literally could have been something as small as a tiny rock or chunk of sand got in the Glocks disconnecter area and was causing all the trigger issues. These tests can easily go either way that’s why they’re just for fun and to give a general idea how a pistol might work I’m very bad situations. I’m sure much lesser pals would have had failures right from the first test or hell even when they’re clean and right out of the box like my friends piece of garbage Springfield XD (pre XDM model). And this heat is getting ridiculous. Even up here in Pennsylvania it’s been low to mid 90’s and humid as hell which takes the heat index up much higher.

Now i understand why i have a problem with my sig whenever i cover it with mud,sand & stomp on it.Great tutorial!

Durability and Accuracy matters, But there's literally more and more reports of the M17 and M18 going off in our Troops and Law Enforcement's Holsters... I don't trust the P320 no matter what so if I go SIG... I'm going P226, P229, or SP2022

I'll keep this in mind the next time I plan on using my Staccato for an anchor in a Porta John.

The only thing I saw that might make a difference is slide mass. I could be wrong but I believe a G17 would have been a better option. I carry a Glock but nothing is perfect about them. I have had good service from them though. Good test regardless and I enjoyed it

Doesn't matter how dirty it is, just drop the 320 on the back strap, it'll go off for sure!

While these "tests" are pretty over the top, they are fun to watch.

Good test 👍🏻. It would be cool to see this type of test done with +P ammo or with a higher energy round like 40s&w and 357sig (perhaps 10mm but that would be a bigger frame gun). With more energy running the slide it might just solve a lot of these out of battery malfunctions.

I agree with you, the P320 is an incredible gun. I own 10 different variations of that same handgun. I own four different Glocks, they're good for what they are but they didn't perform like the P320 does in combat situations( the Glock pinch).

Let’s be honest. Both are some of the best pistols made for sure. If they can perform this well, I would bet my life on either one. Well, I do daily as I carry a Glock but I would definitely trust a sig just as much.

It's always good to see what these firearms can handle. I think it's good to remind ourselves that as good as they are, they are not "Perfection".

I guess sig fixed the problems with the p320 and it's safe to buy one now. I'm a Glock guy, but I like that sig, too. It's perty.

Once you get gritty/sandy water into the slide every handgun I've tested is basically done or on life support and needs to be taken completely down and cleaned to get it back. This can be done in the field with a Glock with minimal experience and tools. This can NOT be done in the field with just about any other gun.

I like the grip angle of the sig. But I trust my life with a glock.

Few people are aware that the model 627 Smith and wesson revolver actually passed the army torture tests. They just didn't want a revolver.

I love sigs but I’m still not quite ready to make them my edc just cause of some of the early safety issues they had. I believe that they probably fixed it but still…. Call me superstitious but it doesn’t feel right appendix carrying something even if there’s a 0.0001% chance there’s a safety issue.

I'm a weirdo and actually love the grip angle on Glocks so it's my preferred one just because it's easier to make hits with.

In the military test I think the Sig did the best in most rounds fired without a stoppage

I can’t trust sig in general. Friend had a p365 sub compact and that thing jammed straight out of the box. No amount of cleaning/ lubing fixed the issues.

Definitely one of the better torture test vids I have seen. For me the takeaway is not that one gun is better than the other but the importance of keeping the FOD out of your gun and that if it does get fouled, it needs to be something that is easy to disassemble to clean it so it can be restored to functioning condition. It's that last point that has turned me off from revolvers.

Good testing. Would've liked to have seen you pull the slide off the Glock to see if there was something jammed in between the trigger bar and the frame (as tends to be the case when the trigger won't reset or becomes very stiff). Not saying that gives it a pass, but would like to know what caused the issues.

P320s are generally more reliable than Glocks when it comes to environment factors. However sig is continuously innovating and improving it’s design which hasn’t come without it’s problems. The newer p320 is even more improved and better to shoot than older ones. Glocks fan boys will deny that to the grave. Both are just as capable. Can’t really go wrong with either. I love them both.

As some have mentioned already, that's definitely a gen 4 glock 19, not a gen 3. The gen 4 19 has pretty much been known as the worst glock generation. I know that my gen 4 19 wasn't super reliable, so I got rid of it a long time ago. There's a reason that I only have a gen 3 and a gen 5 now 😂. Honestly, my hangup with the sig isn't the company, just that the 320s are just one of the ugliest guns on the market. I wouldn't have one unless it was given to me/I won it and then I'd probably sell it to fund something else haha

I'm not a "Glock fanboy" I wanna say that right now, but I honestly thought Glock would do better, I still do trust the p320 after all of the accidentally discharges from being dropped and the results of the XM17 MHS trials not going to phase 2 and just flat out awarding the p320 the US military contract

I remember being impressed at how well the 1911 performed vs. the Glock, so this'll be interesting. Though at the same time, I know a lot of people speculated that part of why the 1911 did well was being .45ACP which had more power to blow through stuff while the Glock was 9mm. Since the P320 is also 9mm, will be interesting to see how it does. Of course, this just proves that .45ACP > 9mm. EDIT: Yeah, seems like the P320 didn't have enough oomph to fully close the slide, so you assisted the slide forward every shot for some runs. Makes me wonder if a stronger .45ACP spring could help better, or even the new 10mm P320. Meanwhile, seems like the Glock's Achilles Heel was the trigger mechanism, as I recall the trigger mechanism seized up in the 1911 vs. Glock torture test.

Fun fact: Glock has NEVER been recalled. Sig? What about you? teeheehee

These exact malfunctions are common with Glock; every time I introduced sand to a Glock, it would expirence failures to feed and go into battery. Once I even had to mortar a Glock 19 Gen 4.

Interesting, I was talking to an associate at Shoot USA 🇺🇸 and we where talking about handguns and I asked between Glock and Sig which do they get the most problems out of and he said by far Sig Sauer, and this is between the guns they rent on the range and the ones they have sold that customers bring back. I know Sig has probably taken the lead as far as popularity but I’ll still stick with my Glock . But I wonder why use a new Sig and the old gen 3 Glock which most likely has a lot of wear and tear on it if I’m not mistaken the gen 3 came out in late 90’s around sometime in 1998 so the Glock came into this VS the underdog. That’s like putting a retired 45 year old Floyd Mayweather against a young strong champion in his 20’s. And yes I know that’s a terrible analogy but it’s what came to mind lol

My personal experience with the M18 is they're garbage in the sand. Took a lot of cleaning and hitting the thing against a table to be able to get it back into battery.

Personally I prefer the Sig, I own the X carry variant. I also own a Glock 30. Both the 320 and G19 were the finalists in the US army trials and I think the danish army just adopted the 320. So, both guns under normal conditions are super duty reliable.

I wonder if you use 124 nato ball if it would cycle better do to slide velocity
