In 1984, when my husband committed suicide, I happened into Harry Starkers on the Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri. Ida McBeth was there sitting on her stool and started singing "I Will Survive"!!! Just when I thought I couldn't possibly make it another day, God brought me there to hear that majestic voice singing this song into my heart & soul. I can't tell you how many times I went again on a Sunday night - alone - just to request that song & let it help heal my shattered heart. I'm so grateful for you, Ms Gaynor, for making that song the healing hit that landed it on Ida McBeth's playlist back then. And God healed my heart over many decades. 💖💖💖💖

When Gaynor had her mini Comeback with I Am What I Am, Gaynor, when asked on Boston TV about her gay fans or the songs connection to the gay community via its origins in LA. Age Aux Follles, made comments about loving the sinner but hating the sin. I was just a twelve year old blooming gay and I felt so disgusted by her tone. When I heard that Summer had reportedly said similar, I thought that it was probably a case of someone confusing two black women who were both called The Queen of Disco. Summer always denied making those Adam and Steve comments and the like; Gloria Gaynor not so much.

Ms. Sherri, I love you to death and you are the funniest we have on TV right now. I just think that sometimes you stick too much to the book while doing an interview and forget your guests' feelings. When Ms. Gloria was telling the story about how she was sexually abused 3 times, you did not acknowledge it and instead moved on to another question. That was an opportunity for a moment, I was sexually abused, so If I opened my heart like that on your show, I would have expected at least "I'm sorry you felt like that and you were alone" or something you know. IDK, it just felt a little weird, maybe cause It happened to me and it is close to my heart or something.
