DID YOU KNOW THAT "Gloria in excelsis Deo" or The Greater Doxology is a Latin hymn sang in Catholic order of mass immediately after Kyrie.
The hymn begins with the words that the angels sang when announcing the birth of Christ to shepherds in Latin. Other verses were added very early, forming a doxology. The Latin translation is traditionally attributed to Hilary of Poiters who was then a Bishop and a Doctor of the Church (a title given by the Catholic Church to saints recognized as having made a significant contribution to theology or doctrine through their research, study, or writing)
Gloria has three parts. The first part is the song that the shepherds heard sung by a heavenly choir of angels at the birth of Jesus. The second part praises God by recalling all of His attributes. The third part prays to Jesus, asking Him to save us from our sins.
