Gloria’s Foundation has teamed up with Google Arts & Culture to launch A Home for a Movement, on Thursday, March 25, 2021, Gloria Steinem’s 87th birthday, including 150 artifacts from Gloria’s personal collection. Since 1966, Gloria’s home has served as birthplace and host to many movements and ideas. This exhibit takes visitors on a virtual tour of Gloria’s New York City Apartment and introduces viewers to the individuals who have been crucial in building and nurturing a global women's movement as well as to the issues central to feminism.
Gloria is a writer, lecturer, political activist, and feminist organizer; a founder of both New York Magazine and Ms. Magazine, and dozens of organizations. While Gloria’s life is impressive, it’s a gateway into key moments in American history and to the many individuals who have been paramount in shaping our society. Gloria’s home is a reflection of her generous and non-hierarchical spirit, and she and it continues to invite strangers and allies alike into collaboration and discourse The experience includes the many individuals who have been crucial to bring the history and stories of this space and the movement it has been fortunate to help fuel.
