Magnificent video, Dan! The Snake River was a sheet of glass and produced a beautiful reflection of the train.

The river looks like a gigantic mirror, incredible reflection. Two trains for the price of one. I can't wait to see the full length video and enjoy this amazing landscape again. Very nice trailer Dan.

@@TheRailfanDan Yup, green signals don't always mean a soon appearing train. Patience and railfanning go together.

Thank you Lou! We thought we were only going to wait here about 30 minutes... That turned into almost 2.5 hours and a game of will it arrive before the sun goes down? Everything worked out!

Reflections like that honestly give me vertigo and motion sickness.....but in a video?!?? That's insane!!! Never have I seen any river, or lake even, THAT still. What a great catch, and even better patience.
@TheRailfanDan
@TheRailfanDan 3 месяца назад
Ha thanks Mike! I have never captured such a nice reflection until this point! There was even the occasional boat that would ripple the water but the train just happened to show when it was very still.

That was such a sweet pacing scene along the super calm river. When you mentioned you were waiting with friends, it gave me the idea of a drone relay shot. If your friends are drone shooters too. The run was getting so long, I wondered if you caught it with a couple of drones running a relay. But then I figured you probably caught it a mile or two from you and then paced it a mile or two down past you. Either way though, I still think a drone relay can really bring some incredible scenes.
@TheRailfanDan
@TheRailfanDan 3 месяца назад
Ha yeah that would be a neat trick with multiple drones but nope it is just what you said. I think I started about a mile ahead of me and paced it a mile and a half or so back the other side of me.
@natgass8102

you were in the right place at the perfect moment and more importantly you know how to operate the drone to capture the perfect reflection!

Nice catch, looking forward to the longer video. On a "reflection"😁 of thought...I still wish there was a way to switch off the narrative. It's just like a radio discjocky, talking over a favorite song or a voice-over on a music video. At any rate, I guess it's what sells the whole shebang. High greens; Happy Trails and Fair Winds...Dan. 🖐

Thanks Ron sorry that bugs ya so much! I do have sympathy though. The ambiance is better without voice over.

Does the Palouse subdivision end up in Pasco? Years ago me and a couple of friends hopped a freight out of Missoula which went nort to Sandpoint Idahop and then down to Spokane. From there we hopped another freight that took us into Pasco. And then from Pasco through the Columbia River valley into Portland. I have often wondered if that was the route we were on and you really cannot tell from the boxcar exactly where you are. That was in the early 1970s when you could still do such things.
@TheRailfanDan
@TheRailfanDan 3 месяца назад
Technically no but there is a connection from Wallula to Pasco. This is the UP line that runs from Spokane to Hinkle. Sounds like you rode on the BNSF which is just West of here and passes through Pasco.
@VidsPhone

@@TheRailfanDan That was around 1974 and I don't think those mergers had even been completed yet. The area had a number of components to it though including the electrified Milwaukee Road and Northern pacific. We rode in boxcars behind Geep7s so it is going back quite a ways. We we just kids of 21 on break from the U of M at Missoula. The railroad men helped us and even gave us food and coffee. It was a real hoot but man do you get dirty after 600 miles riding and sleeping in boxcars. LOL! Today I enjoy a Nice Amtrak ride with a sleeper and their outstanding Flatiron Steak for breakfast.

I like these shorter videos, they are "teasers" or "trailers" for your longer videos. These shorter videos might be better at promoting your channel to new viewers. I hope that these short videos will help to grow your subscriber numbers.

Thank you I am hoping it will be something like that! It also means uploads more often which will help in that aspect as well.
