Well, in Nagaland and other province in the Northeastern part of India, Christianity is the majority religion. Actually, Nagaland has a higher percentage of Baptists than any state in USA!

Also in Brazilian Portuguese, with different lyrics, we have worshipped God for long time in our churches using a such beautiful German melody! In a recent service I record a small part in our worship and sent to a couple of German friends and surprised them also!

Joseph Haydn both made National anthem of Germany and this hymn.

St. Thomas, one of the 12 disciples of Lord Jesus, landed on the shores of South India, in the State of Kerala. So they have been Christians long before the rest of the world!.. Sadly St. Thomas was murdered by the locals in the suburbs of the city of Madras now called Chennai. Mount St. Thomas( where he died) was named in his honor!. The Indian Christians had their own hymns in their respective languages, but with the advent of the British in India a few hundred years ago......the Indian Christians incorporated the English hymns in their Sunday church services!.

I agree that these hymns are utterly stupendous and brought out in all of their glory by the careful practice and performance of these massed choirs. I've sent them to others and soon hope to play one or two to my agnostic brother who lives near Oxford when I stay with him tomorrow for five days. We are good friends but he still rejects Christ as lord. If folks could pray for him - thanks so much!!

I should say that this choir sings better than MOST of the church choirs in the UK or Canada or even in the US. This choir is world class there is no doubt about that, greetings from Toronto Canada
