As corny as it is, as standard power metal as it is, you can see it in his face how much fun he is having with it. This feels like he just wants to have fun with the cool space fantasy stuff and I'm 200% here for it. Plus, their villain is the lead singer of Orden Ogan which is fucking awesome
Orden Ogan is a great band. Especially loved their Gunman video. I recognized the scenery there from Monument Valley. Getting Seeb to be Skeletor is awesome! 🍺😁🤘
This is awesome. This song is a total banger, and last Gloryhammer song without Thomas was awesome too. Real winners are fans, now we gonna have 2 awesome bands.
Angus McSix has former singer of Gloryhammer, former guitarist of Frozen Crown, former drummer of Rhapsody of Fire and then there is keyboard player who is singer of Orden Ogan (Skeletor look-a-like at very end). I do wonder if Thomas also handles bass.
I saw this just yesterday and I rather enjoyed it. I feel the lyric "Glory left my hammer" was Thomas taking a knock at Gloryhammer considering they fired him. I just read that the album will be out April 7th this year. Definitely looking forward to it.
The whole song--and band--is a pretty creative power metal diss track. "Glory left my hammer" being the most obvious blow, but then his claim to becoming the Master of the Universe, which is bigger than being the Masters of the Galaxy (a GH song from last album), and him coming back "one better" as Angus McSix when he was previously Angus McFife (because Six is better than "Fife". Haha). You could even make a case for the villain looking reminiscent to Zargothrax in a way being another subtle jab. I wasn't sure if this was the best route for Thomas to go at first, but after seeing it in action, I am all for this level of petty. It's gold, and this is coming from someone that's still a Gloryhammer fan. P.S. Totally missed opportunity for them to release this album on April Mc6th. Lmao
I did enjoy gloryhammer when Thomas was the lead singer because of the style but also largely because of Thomas's power and way he sang and how he sounded and to me he carried the band. I tried to give the new singer a shot but his voice I don't know he's not a bad singer but it just sounds off to me it doesn't sound like gloryhammer so I'll probably transition over to Wrinklers new band. Also about the name of the band and him playing basically the same character Wrinkler actually owns the trademark of both the gloryhammer name and the character Angus so technically he could can do whatever he wants with it. As for him getting his jabs in I mean let him he has the right to a few. I personally don't think the jabs will go past the first album to me I think he just wants to have fun singing in his own band cheesy 80s sci-fi fantasy band again. And once he gets the band off the ground I'm sure he'll go back to doing his own thing in Angus Mcsix. Also the guitarist is the former guitarist from Frozen Crown she's a really good and she can shred like crazy.
Bro such an awesome insight haha thanks a lot! I enjoyed listening to the GH new singer and hearing the single “Fly Away” more and more makes me so curious to hear Gloryhammer 4 🤘🏻
@@ostrogothiccyoutube8118 I couldn't conceivably give less of a shit about band members being crude in a private group chat. If anything that incident casts a bad light on the mongrel that leaked it. Wokists eternally cope and seethe
Can't wait to see what the future will give us as a fan of gloryhammer and a fan of Thomas Winkler I'm really looking forward to what they both have to offer
Hey nice reaction! You got one detail wrong- every single thing you see in the video is real. There's no greenscreen. It's not just a metaphor for one man's fragile sense of self worth, it's a whole pocket dimension that traps people in, enacting their most pathetic fantasies over and over and over! Napalm REALLY loves to exploit people. I only found out because they ouch what the fuck oh I'm just kidding ignore this message Napalm is cool actually there are no men in suits pointing guns at me I am kidding of my own volition do not investigate the Napalm Gabagool
I can unstand people getting agitated by the perception of tension or confruntation. But to see the presentation of this song it really comes across more as parody to me. Like Tom is making fun of what happened in a way to push forward and the Angus part is because he was the Angus character...Glory hammer kept the character so he just modified it slightly so he could keep it going. I think what will inevitably change peoples perspective on the tone on whether this is spiteful or not is how many, if any, of the other songs in the album are based around or directly refer to glory hammer.
I think I’ll need more than one song from the new Gloryhammer singer before I determine whether or not it’s a good time. I quite enjoyed far away so I’m excited to hear what else he does with the band
@@RustyDarlington There is a live material with the new singer where he sings very first song from Gloryhammer with Angus - Angus McFife :D Here you can see he's trying to handle Thomas style but I believe that he need to abandon this idea and choose his own path.
Glad that I'm not the only one that tasted some underlying salt in the lyrics. I mean, it still could be good. He did convince three other people to go along with him on this project and all three of them sound good so far. But I'm not quite convinced. We'll see how the rest of the album holds up when it finally drops.
@@RustyDarlington The track list is out? Oh... yeah on the store page *looks* Okay, I see what you mean particularly with "In a Past Reality", but otherwise this looks like the same kind of silliness that Gloryhammer devoted three albums to so far. Sooooo, time will tell I guess
I think this opens up so many possibilities for the fantasy world that has been created here. Angus McFife dies at the ends of the third Gloryhammer album, so the new singer could be seen as a kind of a ‘reincarnation’. Meanwhile (according to the McSix website), McFife comes back from the underworld as the reborn Angus McSix with new allies and enemies in tow. So now we have 2 different artists continuing 2 divergent story arcs with their new albums. A win for everyone and you can just follow whichever story you want (or both)
The snark kind of made sense in the narrative, so I am going to give it a pass. Although, seeing as my boyfriend is a rapper, maybe I'm indoctrinated to ignore artists conflicting as if they were on reality tv. Still a far way to go to reach that level though, and so far I find this to be fun and catchy, and just the right amount of silly, so I'm all good with what we got! Definitely looking forward to the album! ^^
I'm happy to see him doing his own thing again. I enjoyed this song and can't wait to see what the next one brings to the table. I'm not sure what to expect from Gloryhammer in the future though. Going back to your comment about Christopher Bowes. I think it's probably for the best that he isn't apart of this project. The man butchered his cover of Resurrection by Erection.
I think this whole project could have been handled better. For one, I don't like that the band page announced shows and festival dates long before the first song was out. I'm also not a fan of this whole "One Better" thing either. I feel like if it goes on for more than an album it'll just look kind of sad. Nothing against Tom or the others though, I just think that the project be so much more than just a digivolved Gloryhammer, and I would like to see it be more than that. Edit: That was my exact reaction to the guitarist playing left handed. That alone makes me interested in the band.
Well the rivalry seems to be pretty one sided right now, and it seems like it'll be that way. Realistically GH has no reason to respond, but I feel like Tom has to keep jabbing at GH because just like literally every other feud between musicians, it's free advertisement.
But that is the idea, to go beyond the gloryhammer era, this song is a straight up sequel from the last song of the last album, so it makes sense to highlight his changes, like going six to five (since they prob didn't let him use the name) and the hammer losing the power so he gets a new sword. I doubt he will do the entire album shooting fire, he prob want to do his own thing now
