A long and unique level crossing located next to Gloucester Panel Signal Box in Gloucester. The crossing is busy with rail movements as there are 5 tracks, which makes it the second-biggest level crossing in the UK in terms of number of tracks. All current equipment dates back to an upgrade of the crossing in 2016, and there are four LED wigwags and four SPX barriers, along with 5 yodalarms which are far too quiet for a crossing of this size, with one of which painted in black and located on a speed limit sign near the signal box. One of the barriers lowers very slowly here at this busy crossing in an open, industrial and developing landscape.
The barriers took a little longer than usual to raise in this closure after a class 800 returns from Gloucester station towards London.
