Gloucestershire Vintage & Country Extravaganza event will be on Friday 4th, Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th of August 2023.
Whether you are an exhibitor, visitor or volunteer, we can’t wait to welcome you back to a certain airfield at South Cerney on the first weekend in August!
Set on an ex wartime airfield, the sprawling showsite covers around 200 acres, with surprises around every corner, to suit young and old alike. For those who want to go back to their misspent youth, why not pay a visit to the vintage fairground?
When you are in need of a cuppa, a firm favourite is the vintage 1940s Tea Room, featuring period style furnishings and serving tea or coffee from delicate china cups which you can choose to accompany delicious homemade cakes or scones with jam & cream (mmmmmm!). In the background, music plays from a 1940s style radio in keeping with the setting.

Music and Dance Schedule
We are delighted to have former West End musical performer, Miss Em!
Miss Em took the vintage world by storm with her sassy charm and powerful vocals evoking the golden era of artists such as Etta James, Dinah Washington, Judy Garland and Julie London. The daughter of a wartime Tiller Girl cabaret oozes through Miss Em’s veins!
The dancers will perform in the main arena as part of the Military Vehicle parade at approximately 12.40pm on both Saturday and Sunday to celebrate the special relationship South Cerney has with Glen Miller.

The Steam Sections
Steam and Working Area: Peter Brown
Considered by many visitors to be the heart of the show, is the magnificent steam section featuring more than 70 full-size steam engines, steamrollers and showmans’ engines. You can watch these glorious machines being put through their paces in the ‘Demonstration Arena’ and have the opportunity to get behind the wheel at one of the ‘invitational steering’ sessions. The large Steam Timber area features periodic displays of winching and rolling, wood sawing, timber loading and threshing duties.
Miniature Steam Section: Colin Meredith
These remarkable machines are not just models, they are actually scale size replicas of the real thing. They are built in a range of scale sizes. The machines you will see here range from 6 inches to the foot (half full size) right down to 3 inch and 2 inch versions. They can be based on an existing full size engine or scratch built to represent a long remembered but sadly scrapped engine. When you walk around the displays you will notice that the wide variety of steam traction that once could be seen on the highways & byways of yesteryear are represented, everything from magnificent showmans engines to road locomotives, steam rollers and steam lorries. Don’t miss the grand parade of miniature steam in the Alec Tanner arena or take a ride behind the 10 inch scale steam locomotive situated near the Diabetes UK tent?!
The Cars Sections
Car Club Displays & Car Collections:Peggy-Sue Ford
Classic Cars (Pre-1990, Post Historic Tax):David Price
American Cars (Historic Tax Class):Pete Glover
Pre War Cars (Pre 1939):Bob Clapham
Post War Cars (Historic Tax Class):Brian Ireland
A show within a show with over 700 vehicles represented, from the dawn of the motoring era, to pre-war, post-war, Pre 72 American to modern classics and hot rods. The oldest vehicles entered in previous shows have included a 1904 CGV Talbot (only 50 were ever built, with only 2 left in existence) and a 1904 Talbot that has been lovingly restored by a family in Cheltenham, and often competes in the world famous London to Brighton Veteran Car Run. To the opposite end of the spectrum, there are supercars such as Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Bugatti to mass produced run-abouts such as Morris, Austin, and Ford marques - we often hear people saying ‘my Dad had one of those’.
The Buses & Coaches Section
Buses & Coaches Section: John Hitchings
The popular Bus & Coach Section has featured up to 80 vintage vehicles, ranging from a 14 seat minibus right through to an ex Hong Kong double decker, whilst in pride of place there is a line-up of iconic Bedford OB coaches. The 2019 show was particularly special as it marked the 80th anniversary of this iconic vehicle.
