The Spring Bank Holiday weekend once again brings the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway's main gala event of the year, the Cotswold Festival of Steam. This years event took the theme of 'Speed to the West', bringing back the days of when the Great Western and Southern Railway companies competed in the West Country.
Guest locos were classes that were commonly seen on each regions trains in the heyday of steam. Two Bullied Pacifics in the form of Nos 34092 'Wells' and 34007 'Wadebridge' represented the Southern region, with Modified Hall No 6960 'Raveningham Hall' represented the Western alongside the homefleet.
The weather for the Saturday was an improvement on the same event last year, with wall to wall blue skies and sunshine for the majority of the day, only giving way to cloud in the late afternoon and evening.
