I remember noticing strong dialogue panning on The Incredibles but I was watching at home. I'm not sure how it's in the movie theater, where the dialogue is supposed to be played through the central, mono speaker.
Strong panning in the theater as well. If the recordings are clean(no noise, no room reflections) then panning can be a great tool to add dynamics and interest! Check out Gravity, which is live action and has a ton of dialog panning in Atmos.
