In the early 1990s General Motors in London, Ontario, Canada flew an Irish Rail locomotive to Ireland aboard the Antonov 124-100 aircraft! It was a big deal locally because no one had ever seen that big a cargo aircraft in London. I was hired as a budding camera assistant by GM to carry the VTR for the camera operator up from Chicago. I got to crawl all over the airplane and even shot some footage of my own early the next morning! The Antonov actually landed during the last day of the London International Airshow that year (93 or 94?) after likely an unauthorized steep banked turn over the crowd. The next day they started loading the loco but it went well into the night. It finally flew away the next day, stopping at Gander to refuel before crossing the pond. Fantastic aircraft! This is a copy of the internal video for GM employees that we helped produce.
