The way Sam keep calling Micic “Vas” is a real eye opener….he really loves and connects with all his players no matter how long they’re there and upholds it fully when they’re gone…I fucking love that!
All y’all crying in here are hilarious. Y’all gotta calm down and remember that we still got free agency where Presti will be able to go out and get players that can actually help us win now. I liked some of the bigs in the draft but I would MUCH rather go out and get one that’s already proven and experienced. WE ARE IN WIN NOW MODE, not draft a center that’s gonna take 3 years to develop mode.
Then why draft Topic when he is a project kind of player who’s another guard on a roster that basically has a billion of them, Knecht would have been better cuz he can be a win now piece and I’m surprised that he fell that far
@@TheCook43 Topic was widely considered a top 5 pick in this draft before the injury. How is that more of a project than anyone else they would’ve taken? I think Topic will come in and rehab and learn next year and then when he’s healthy will be an immediate contributor. Also we kinda needed a backup PG with the second unit. We have a lot of combo guards like Cason, Isaiah, Caruso but none of those guys are really playmakers. Topic looks like a true PG that when he gets healthy can come in and run that second unit.
@@spencerwarner9268 He has the same weaknesses as Giddey and is going to take a while to develop and in order to improve he would have to start but that’s not going to happen when you have Shai Gilgeous Alexander having the starting spot
@@TheCook43 Why would he have to start? I just explained how he could come off the bench and run the second unit since we don’t really have another true PG off the bench. Also he is a much better finisher than Josh. The only reason people are comparing him to Josh is because he struggles shooting the ball. Here’s another thing to think about. Why did Josh not work out in OKC? Because he didn’t fit with the STARTING unit. I think Josh would’ve been really good coming off the bench because he would have the ball in his hand a lot more with Shai not on the court at the same time. But he basically requested a trade when Sam and Mark told him that’s what he would be doing. When Topic gets healthy he can come in and occupy that role of primary ball handler in the second unit. Anyways I’m not gonna keep going back and forth. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions on the draft but I say all this to say it’s really not a bad pick at all.
I love this pick it’s for 2025 season we will address the big man In FA also this gives us time to find out who stays and who goes before Topic comes back I believe in you Sam
Because this draft was weak and they took a chance on a guy that would have been picked in top 5 before injury. They also have time and don't need him to play right away with how deep roster is and our cap space
People are crazy. Presti has been nothing short of genius for this team.. how many much bigger franchises like the bulls haven’t been good in 20+ years and this dude builds a contender in OKC with zero big name free agent signings.. come on people. Other GMs have missed on picks for 20 years and some commenters want to bring up 2 picks that didnt turn out 😂
@@TheCook43 because they have many guards they wont develop him? Where is logic in that... Guy already proven himself, in Europe his career is guaranteed.
I don’t think the draft was where we were going to get a rotation big. Not this year at least. I think we have to be patient. There are still moves out there to be made.
@@ThunderFanDownUnder so they can brick threes in the 5 out offense? teams literally left giddey wide open u think they won't do the same to a center at the 3 point line lol
@@Triads297that's not Josh, he's more skilled and has great ability to get to the rim at will. His movements dribbling and driving are very similar to Shai that's why they comped him like that. They don't need him to play if he remains injured they can trade anyway.
@@ThunderFanDownUnderIt was a terrible pick to select Topic, why would OKC draft a project kind of player when their main focus is going to be contending and it’s only going to hamper his development, they should have gotten a big man who could grab the boards which they probably get someone like Valuncuinas or Drummond in free agency
Just reloaded for the future and maintained the championship contention we have now, good picks in a weak draft. Now presti needs to get to work in free agency/trades
I think Cody Williams is a better fit but especially they need big wing and forward or a center but Nikola topic is a better talent hopefully he developed in to a great shooter and improve defender if he wants to start for thunder but as always they make a good draft pick and he can be used as a trade asset in the future if doesn't work out or if he ask for a trade
How about some size n rebounding SMH Giddey clone 2.0 if he doesn't address the foward position or backup center bro that's another wasted yr of window we ain't getting out the west with this small lineup not with Denver Minnesota and Dallas and the size they got 🤔
Topic is a great pick y’all tripping we got steal he could’ve arguably went 1 before his injury it’s similar to the Michael Porter situation he was injured and fell way down to 14 now he’s one of the best players on a championship team
I’m kinda mad we did that for him but not for some size like clingan I think Dillion gonna be a good backup for Shai I’m still hoping we sign or trade for some size we have one guy over 6’9
Rigth now topic and dillon are a homeless man sga and j dub. Couple of years they can be poor man sga and j dub. Couple of years more you can have same style of play coming from the bench
Shit I've been watching him screw shit up before his trading Harden cost us at least 1 championship so he gets no passes from me he doesn't address the biggest hole we got at FA and that's a yr of championship window opportunity closing each yr I've seen it before
One thing I noticed why Sam wanted to pick Nikola even though he's injured that the experience that he gained when Chet got injured during that summer. If Chet didn't get injured that season, for sure Sam will not go with Topic. Chet played every game this season and for sure that is the reason why.
I thought we were in win now mode,we were the 1 seed, these draft picks mean nothing to what we need to win a championship, and these picks don't help us win now. Sam don't get comfortable with just being the 1 seed Sam you got comfortable with the Durant era and didn't improve our team and we lost our franchise player. Are you going to do the same thing to Shai? If not then get Shai the help he needs and that's someone who can" rebound". Address our "needs" sam these picks didn't help with the glaring need we need. Sam bounce back in Free agency cause these picks did absolutely nothing for the team " now"
Presti got us here and gave us a great team really quick. Will it win a championship? Who knows? While not all of his picks panned out, he has proven that he is better than most at evaluating and developing players with his vision and style the team is choosing to play. Russell, serge, harden were criticized as c- picks too.
It’s tough to see the vision with Topic. We just got rid of Giddey, and while Topic is a much better finisher finisher and playmaker… HE CAN’T SHOOT. It’s arguable that as a prospect, Giddey was a better shooter from three.
@@Zemlja_je_ravna The FTs are great, but his jumper is too flat for him to ever become a consistent spot up shooter. The mechanics aren’t there, and a lot of his misses from three are bad. The same thing is going to happen to him that happened to Giddey when push comes to shove. At least he has the ability to get to the rim, he’s the best driver and finisher in the class, I guess.
@@beauandmarion2630 FT percentage is generally a good indicator of future success as a shooter. To reiterate, he is the youngest person in this draft. If he hadn't gotten injured he was projected as top 5 draft pick all year long.
@@Mortay2k Yeah, that’s kind of the saving grace here. His shot doesn’t look absolutely broken like Giddey’s does, thankfully. From what I noticed, he has such a low arc on his shot and that’s mostly a lower body thing since his shot is so flat. If he could work with Chip all season long, and then maybe get a little more lift on his shot, I’d feel really good about him getting up to being a league average shooter.
