Really enjoy these video Simon. Very accessible and instructive for this novice level. No real prep or high level tactics just spotting errors and playing simple, logical chess

1500-1700 is novice? I’d say it’s more of an intermediate/advanced level

@@Art_Of_Stew Perhaps not, maybe amateur, hard to really define. The point being it's great people who play and learn for fun, but want to improve!

Little update, got to 1540 and then dropped 150 points in one month, I just can't do it and it's so tilting and demoralizing to have now less points than when I wrote the first message. Chess is brutal for real

I play the Scotch, and I've only played ok against the Petrov. 3.d4 is an appealing option. Thanks for the inspiration, I'm going to give it a shot. You're my favorite chess instructor/content creator by the way. Keep up the great work!

I didn't see the issue with a4 at 14:25 and was going to ask but then I saw Bxd5 , exd5, Rxf1, Rxf1, g6 , axb5, due to the backrank issue. It's not that easy to see

Dear GM Williams, I really enjoy these videos. Would you consider doing a speed run using just the Classical Dutch (and / or the Black Lion)? I learned so much from watching the Alex Banzea speedrun that was exclusively the Jobava and it would be really informative to see how you handled certain positions in something as flexible as the Classical Dutch.

Hi, thanks for all these contenents!! you really rock!! I'm studying your "killer dutch" book and it is a really great experience.. so I'm searching for your "killer dutch rebooted" book to buy (and study it as soon as I finish this one), but i can't find it anywhere.. I don't know if it's possible, in the case can you post here a link from where to buy it (even e-book would be great).. sorry for my english.

Simon's 1600 opponents = play like 800s & lose in 10 moves. My 1600 opponents = play like 2800s and crush me in 10 moves.

Your opponents don't know even a little theory? Why play the exchange French when the advance is stronger? It just makes sense to me to know what my strongest move 3 is regardless of what black plays. And I'm only a 1300 player.

I don’t think on your speedrun accounts you should call yourself your name because then people notice and play badly and it isn’t really a true representation of how people play at that level subsequently. Just something to think about for your next speedrun
