I want to make fuzz pedals with germanium or silicone transistors. Does the gm328a provide all the readings / info I need when the transistor is tested on the gm328a?
Well, I would say that a component tester is most useful for checking if a component is faulty or for getting some clues what an unknown component is. However, when I design a circuit I usually know what voltage, current and gain is needed. Then I can get all the information from the relevant data sheet. I would not necessarily deem the information returned by a component tester to be sufficient for that.
@@Tech-Relief I need to know the leakage and the gain of each transistor I have. The gm328a it shows what I need and more information the moment I need to know instead of searching datasheets. I know I need more equipment for effect pedal building but instead of buying a peak atlas dca55 or a dca75 pro component tester I can use the gm328a to find the current leakage, hfe , pin out of the transistors . The quality of a dca55 is far better than the gm328a, it costs a lot more money and is probably more accurate but both of them show the same parameters/ info of the transistors and other components. Which one you'd you buy to test transistors ? The peak atlas Dca55 or gm328a?? Happy new year!!
I have a DCA75 Pro and would recommend it, mostly because it has PC software which can show graphs like gain and other parameters not just a simple value. This allows you to check how the transistor behaves at various voltages and currents etc. It still has some limitations but is an order of magnitude better than the other simple component testers.
