I remember reading a book about Felipe Gozon (I fogot the title). He said when he took the GMA CEO's post, he decided to ditch the rainbow branding and the "Where you Belong" slogan because it did not give GMA its own unique identity. Their former branding is too foreign for the masses, and viewers are looking for more local content. So they stopped "borrowing" American brandings and created their own brand that suited Filipino viewers' taste, thus, the Kapuso brand was born. Kapamilyas on PEx laughed at the "Kapuso" branding kasi wala raw sa dictionary, unlike Kapamilya. But that's the point of the branding - That when you hear "Kapuso", only GMA comes to mind. It's what you call "brand reinforcement". It may not be in the dictionary, but at least wala kang maririnig sa balita na mga Kapusong nagpatayan. 😂
This was GMA at its peak in the early 2000s - yes, ABS-CBN was still the solid number 1 at alam ng maraming viewers ‘yun, pero lumalaban na lalo by that time ang GMA with programming and star power. And true enough, the year following the implementation of the “Kapuso” rebrand, nag-number 1 na ang GMA. Medyo nakaka-miss din ang panahong ‘yun. Ang sarap pakinggan uli ng original Kapuso jingle - whether it’s this version by The CompanY, or Regine’s version. And, ewan ko kung may long-time GMA viewers na nakapansin, but I know I have since 2002: The notes at the end of this jingle seem to be a nod to the “Where You Belong” jingles - which, for me who grew up associating GMA with the “Where You Belong” tagline, was pretty cool. 240p ung native resolution nung videos since VCD quality ung pagkakarecord.. partly upscaled na yan to 480p pero ganyan pa rin itsura.. hindi sya nirecord sa vhs unlike nung ibang videos na narecord ko
@@danngarcia correct at wala tayong ganyan na equipment para jan. Napakamahal ng ganyan na equipment. Tulad sa America nagkakahalaga ng almost 1m. Yung ganung machine na kayang gawin ng 1080p or i upto 4k resolution.
Baka kasi hindi nag upload sa RU-vid yung mga promo tv commercials at sign-on & sign off closedown etc, dito sa Pinas para iwas copyright kasi may ads na yun kahit skip pa ng ads tulad sa RU-vid, Kasi puro fanmade lang sa mga videos nila, Kahit America tsaka ibang bansa pa, nag upload sila mga tv commercials, sign-on & sign offs at promo spots etc.
So, after the debacles by debacles with AC (ABS-CBN), does the GMA Network now reclaiming the no. 1 spot after the NTC's cease-and-desist order back in 2020? I feel so bad for AC, but I knew AC came back stronger with their all-new format of broadcasting thanks to the Kapamilya Channel.
That was before PBB started airing on ABS-CBN, and therefore, though Toni G. was already with Studio 23, Eat Bulaga was her last show on 7, but I think supposedly she would have her own show?
