@Heath Brockway appreciate the post of the build, jotted down the specifics on rims, tires, best transmission, front axle, gear ratio, transfer case and what year bed you used. I'd like to know where the side view mirrors are from are they C-body OEM, OEM from another vehicle or aftermarket?
The mirrors are Nissan titan joined to the original plastic cover. If you grind the original Nissan mirror mounts off and use a epoxy tinted black (two part used for fiberglass/carbon fiber) you can join the two sand and there's a rattlecan plastic trim paint that will give you a mirror that looks as if it was oem. Also I purchased the power mirror option. If you have power mirrors you can find a wiring diagram and keep the power mirror option. To cover the original mount openings used aluminum and just bent it by hand to fit the contour. Used 3m double sided tape to attach.
The two part epoxy used for fiberglass/carbon fiber is a slow cure resin so you'll need to clamp it and let set up for 24hrs. This will give you the best bond... at least the best I could find.
Badass truck! What's the front axle? I want to convert my 2000 GMC 3500HD to 4x4. It has a straight I-beam axle in the front with leaf springs. Not sure if I should go with a Dana 60 or Dana 70. It has a Dana 80 in the rear, 7.4 Vortec (454) and a 4L80E trans.
@@thomaspike2119 there's a local guy that I used to deal with. He has several c4500 4x4s that he uses for plowing, and hauling heavy equipment. I don't think he's ever had an issue with the differential front/rear. The weak point on these are the 05 transmission. They're the weaker 5 speed. That'll break well before the front end. I could only manage to put an extra 100hp before limp mode. The 06 to 09 were the 6 speed...could handle more power and the risk of dreaded downshift slip is minimized. Of course the lly couldn't really handle much extra hp either. Although in their defense they are dependable if not over tuned
I checked and I couldn't find any that showed that bracket. The model step I used was for a jeep though. The bracket was flat I think it was 1 1/4" thick with an angled flange towards the outside to mimick the angled pinch weld on a rocker panel.( I'd take a pic if I hadn't sold it) Hope that helps.
For direct bolt on super singles there aren't many options. I ordered from 1st attack engineering. There out of Indiana. They have a facebook/ web page, and you can also see some of what they do if you check out Stacey David's show. They were on an episode. The price including shipping was 2k ( in 2013) I've tried beads, and liquid for internal balancing and both seem good. No issues and I've run them for 6 years. One thing I did add was a dual steering stabilizer. They don't make a dual setup for these trucks other than a motor home type with a return to center spring but if you get one for a ford f350 it will bolt on with no modifications. Hope this helps.
You can find these trucks in my area now with the 6.6 in ok condition for 20 to 30k. That's without any modifications though. If you do all the work yourself it might add another 15k. That's shortening frame, driveshaft. Tires, wheels, bed, bed spacer, bumper, hitch, mirrors, paint, new seats, lights, intake, programmer, exhaust, steps, fluids, brakes, brake lines and the list goes on.
@@heathbrockway9040 brother please help me out with some questions, where did u buy the wheels? And how much lift did u put up front to clean the tires?
@@gherasimtibi I bought the wheels from 1st attack engineering. They also made the spacer you would need for the rear. And the truck was all stock suspension I just had to shave the fender a bit and took about an inch off the lower edge of the bumper. I had no issues with it. You can find 1st attack on facebook and you can also find them on an episode of Stacey David's Gearz (should be on youtube). They outfit fire rescue vehicles. Very good people to do business with.
@@heathbrockway9040 u saved me alot of headache , thank u so much for starters. Also did u get the spacers in the rear to get that stance? And are all 4 wheels the same just reversed in the back?
