Been a mechanic in a small town for a few years, learned most from RU-vid. This guy does an awesome job of the walk through and the random facts at the bottom make it all the much better.
You saved me $720 on a repair from the dealer. Cheapest was $475 around here for a normal shop. I paid $106 for the parts and did it myself. Problem solved!
I love love love to hear that stuff That’s awesome take the family out to dinner or do a kind favor for a complete stranger even if it’s just opening the door
Changed both of mine today. Thanks to your video I went into the job with more confidence and finished with self gratification of a job well done! Thanks a lot!!! 👍
Thank you so much for the video. I did this to my 2016 GMC Terrain along with oil and filter change. Had negative post disconnected. Reconnected everything, started right up, and engine light disappeared!!Got the pair of camshaft sensors from eBay for 20.00.
You’re welcome Cameron thank you for taking the time to let me know I do appreciate it very much and welcome to the channel we’re very happy to have you.
@@sharpcarco I changed out the O2 sensor a few days before I got the recall notice for the part in the mail. Today's going to be the fuel pressure sensor. It's been a real trial, but thankfully the engine in this vehicle is pretty accessible.
I am grateful for this video. Replaced both as you said but had to get the code cleared by a mechanic shop. I'm sure I saved a lot. Thanks for making this video
Thank you so much for this video, and the facts at the bottom, very interesting. Great, Great Demonstration. I actually changed my Exhaus/Intake Solenoids before watching this specific one, but decided to watch a video, because I have a check engine light is on, and it's coming out w/a P0013 code. Plus a Catalytic System code of P0420.
Will the code/engine light clear automatically once the issue is fixed/solenoids replaced? I don’t have an OBD scanner and understand auto parts places can’t legally clear the codes anymore? 😕
Clay your videos are beyond helpful. And thank you for taking the time to answer some of my questions on other videos. My brother lives out in grand rapids and i travel there from time to time. Needless to say ill be getting a hold of you if i happen to break down out that way 😂 thanks again 👍
@@sharpcarco can I ask you this, I got them changed back in July and now the code says it’s the camshafts again but it’s been two years since I changed the battery in my car and jiffy lube did say it needed to be recharged then autocine says it’s fine and gives me the code for intake camshafts. Could I be having the same issue as back in July? I thought camshafts don’t mess up that frequent thanks in advance!
They probably don’t mess up that frequent more than likely you have an internal issue inside the engine sorry wish I had better news it wouldn’t surprise me these are ridiculously bad engines
Thank you so much for the video! I'm gonna take my chance at it tomorrow and change both the intake and exhaust solenoid tomorrow. I do have a another code P0014 along with the P0013 though. That one refers to the timing chain I believe. Do you have a video for that?
I have a 2014 GMC terrain with the 2.4 motor and it stalls at the stop lights runs good but it stalls at the lights and it sometimes shakes like it wants to turn off The engine light came on once it stayed on one day and then it didn't come on again but it's still sputtering and occasionally it's stalls starts right back up and goes only Stalls on a takeoff or sputters on a takeoff while you're idling.. but it runs well as you're driving at high speeds no hesitations or anything. I'm a bit confused because on a different video the terrain for those same cylinders were showing a 0010 and a 0011 code yours is po0014 and po0013 if you don't mind maybe giving me some advice I would very much appreciate it...
Hello I have a 2011 GMC Terrain 4 cylinder. I have a P0341 code showing up, indicating my camshaft position sensor A is bad. I have replaced the sensor and after disconnecting the battery the code still comes on. Is there something else that could be triggering the code? Should I replace the same two sensors you replaced in the this video to see if it helps? Thank you for your time..
Yes there is something else that could be causing that to come on. The timing chain is bad and the sensor is throwing a code because it knows it’s out of time
Well what code is stored inside your computer? And I try to answer all the questions I can but sometimes they don’t come through RU-vid properly so it’s best to look me up on Facebook under my business clays AC and auto repair and send me a private message there
I have p0010 code 2016 GMC Terrain and changed both solenoids INT and EXT....I had reduced engine power pop up on the dash and wouldnt start the next day....when i go to Try to start the vehicle and go under the hood I am hearing a a faint clicking right by the front camshaft sensor.....Any suggestions please and thanks?!
Man I’m sorry to hear that Russell. I made this video describing how to change the solenoids and how they function. But I have not made a video of why they go bad. It’s due to lack of oil pressure inside the engine that causes the solenoids to send the code to the computer. Then replacing the solenoids really isn’t the problem it’s the bearing clearance inside the head on the cams which causes low oil pressure. I’d like to make an in-depth video on the subject but I need a vehicle that has the problem so I can disassemble it and show people what is exactly going on
I had one come in that had timing chain guides broke and bent valves, I put a new cylinder head on it, new timing chain set, new cam phasers and new solenoids, ran great then after about 30 miles it was wanting to die when coming to a stop, and idles rough, I put the scanner on it and it has a p0014 code, I can control the solenoids off and on and hear them click, but it still has the p0014 exhaust cam over advance, Any ideals???
Did you check the PCV hole on the intake to make sure it was not plugged when you removed the intake? And other than stating the obvious which I hate to. For whatever reason it is possible that the timing jumped. You obviously know how quick and simple it is to verify that. I find it simpler to take it apart. Trying to hook up the lab scope. And depending on what kind of solenoid you use it is possible that you have a low oil pressure problem which is making the solenoid stick. I hope you find some of that helpful maybe it’ll help you find the problem
Well I’m sorry to hear that happening to you but I can tell you with almost all certainty that your cylinder head is probably bad. I could go into a long explanation of what’s going on inside there. Are you near Grand Rapids Michigan?
Please note that GM specification torque on these 10mm hex head fasteners is 89-lb in MAXIMUM. Applied torque beyond 100 lb-in may result in damage to casting and subsequent oil leak due to shear fatigue in cover.
I’m not sure but I think you may have missed read some thing if we’re talking about tightening down the solenoids they don’t tighten down any more than 8 to 10 foot pounds at most but more than likely I said 89 inch pounds which is totally different than foot pounds
Well welcome thank you very much Chris hope you enjoy the channel sometimes I know you won’t enjoy it all the time LOL but I certainly keep trying to make myself better God bless and have a great day
Ok im getting a P0011 code is that the cam shaft position sensor? If it is i just had them replaced not even a year ago, please don't tell me they failing already, need your help to fix this problem.
Well it’s extremely complicated they may not be failing but they technically are because of lack of oil pressure inside the engine at an idol. Bearings inside the engine where down and cause lower oil pressure especially at idle then causing the campuses to not work properly. By the way I work at an engine shop and yes it’s very common the cam phasers go bad even after a short period of time
@@sharpcarco well I changed them again day before yesterday cause I had to take a road trip down south, i can honestly say it performed well to Arkansas & i headed back to Wisconsin without any problems, oh I also threw a can of sea foam in the tank to clean everything, next i need t add some to the oil & run if for 30mins before my next oil change, i keep hearing how well that sea foam works miracles.
