GMLRS Is A Very Capable Short Range Missile
The GMLRS rocket (Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System) is a guided multiple launch rocket system used by the United States Army and its allies. This rocket was fired from the M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) or High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) rocket launcher. GMLRS has a range of up to 70 kilometers (43 miles) and can carry a variety of warheads, including high-explosive warheads, cluster warheads and cluster warheads.
The first GMLRS Alternative Warhead Rocket has rolled off the production line at Lockheed Martin's manufacturing facility in Camden, Arkansas.
The use of the GMLRS in combat, along with the GPS-guided Excalibur 155m artillery round, heralded a new era in land combat in which Commanders had the option to fire precision-guided weapons from the ground in a new way, Such a phenomenon gave ground Commanders an increased ability to use rockets and artillery as a more effective offensive attack weapon, apart from just carrying out suppressive fire at enemy locations so that troops can maneuver.
