This game establishes *dread* so well with the girl's panicking face

From a witch's house to a witch's mansion to a witch's house again. I bet the next one will be a witch's villa or a witch's studio apartment

You can maybe say that the ending means the girl now suffers trauma not that she was kidnapped again

I mean, imagine you're a witch, just having a good time in your personal mansion, and then your DINNER ESCAPES AND STARTS WALKING AROUND AND MAKING SOUNDS AND SHIT BUT YOU CANT SEE IT-

I like one key detail that's in the game is the girl's eyes 👀 telling you where the witch is also to note that if you wear earbuds or headphones while playing you can hear which direction the witch is coming from 👌

I really love the sound design and overall art style of this game. Especially the moments where the girl is hiding behind something and the witch is standing near her and you can see the horror on her face at almost being found.

I like how the ending takes into account the Hag is a Witch and got *axed* in the face by a girl. She isn't just going to let the kid get away like that

Really love how the girl's expressions change according to the situation and her eyes move. Makes you more nervous too.

I love the music when you're being chased. So tense and panicky.

Closing the doors give you an extra 2 seconds to run and hide,because the witch has to crumple up and squeeze underneath.

Some horror games makes me laugh because of how silly the horror is. Some make me cringe because of how stupid the horror is. Some annoy me because of how lazy the horror and jumpscares are. This one makes me really uncomfortable with its dreadful simplicity. It's good.

I will admit it’s nice change see a classic monsterous looking witch as the antagonist again. That’s not to say I am against subversive witches in recent media, but they usually tend to be designed as physically attractive or comical in some way, which I think undermines horror character design. THIS witch looks like mister babadook’s twin sister. Love it!

Came to watch this after your new playthrough of the "fan made" one. It's amazing how you haven't really changed much, and that's not a bad thing! I love your humor and commentary, so it was a nice surprise to be able to watch old videos that don't really feel old because it's the same Manly :)

I can't help but be terrified of this, imagining if I was the on in the situation like that, I'd be just in the cage waiting for my doom

Animation can always give great character to someone without any spoken words. The sweat coming off and eye movements really sell who the character is.

_Brave little girl_ Picking up a dead rat takes courage besides going after the witch. Hopefully she really did escape... I really enjoyed the simple stealth in the game & loved the sweat animation when the witch came near her. Cute art & I liked it!

It's always a Witch's house, when can we get a Witch's apartment room, or a Witch's condo

“Can you survive the witches house” the better question is, do you have a wish you would kill for?

Such an amazing game. The art style and sound effects contributed to the atmosphere. The witch's design was also interesting. And the small objects in the house telling us her story is appropriate for such a short game. You can see 3 pictures in the hallway. One in the middle is a mother and her two children probably, and on the left you have another portrait of her. The portrait on the right is of one of the girl on the left in the middle pictures. The girl on the right in the main picture has her face burned out, maybe indicating a betrayal or dispute. And there is the person in the basement who is either the person whose face is burned out by the hag (and the hag is in the picture) maybe for cursing her into being a hag or she is the witch in the photo and she burned the hag's face to which she looked her up.

the chase music is so simple but REALLY effective

I really like how the MC's expressions constantly change in accordance to the proximity towards the hag.

I’m usually not creeped out by games, but this for some reason REALLY creeped me out ... in a good way

note: she does not teleport she only breaks her bones to get under doors and if you pay attention to the little girls eyes she looks were the witch is when near.

Ugh everytime she stops near the girl’s hiding place it gave me chills. 😨

The witch in this reminds me of a story I read. Essentially, this old hermit who everyone of the village actually loved, disappeared. Nobody saw her for days. Then the children started going missing, and she was seen at night in shadows, moving oddly. Well, the story goes on, and the older sister of one of the kids goes looking for her missing little sister, and she follows a trail to the old hermit's house in the woods. She hides in the old house and sees the hermit inside, but the woman acts and moves weird. Then the older sister watches as some insectoid thing with too many long spidery legs crawls out of the woman's mouth, the same size as a human, essentially using the hermit as a skin-suit.

The thing that scared me the most was the lack of puns in the commentary.

I'm reminded of the Gorefield games, yes. A cute art style, simple controls, a solid premise and the perfect length for a game like this. A good time all around.

The girl's sprite really reminds me of the Scott Pilgrim Vs the world game especially when she hits the Gnarled Hag with the axe. The attention to detail with the eyes is really cool too.

The animated sprite of the girl really adds to the feeling of suspense and empathy, really cool game!

Great video. I think this game is actually pretty cool. i really like how the playable character's eyes look at the witch to tell you where it is, as most games mostly use sound cues.

Sooo from what I'm looking at in the main room with the stairs... The portrait on the wall is of a mother and her two daughters (tall woman with small girl and an even smaller girl). The woman and the eldest daughter have their own headshot portraits done, but not the youngest daughter. So not only does the youngest not have a headshot, but her face is completely black on the family portrait. I'm guessing the Gnarled Hag was the youngest daughter who was born so deformed that they couldn't bear to depict her face on anything and maybe they were ashamed of it. The youngest was probably ashamed too because all of the mirrors in the house are broken. Unless her mother and sister died of old age, it doesn't explain why she's alone in the house though.

Holy shit, I absolutely ADORE the art in this game!!! All of the details were amazing as well! The way the little girl starts to sweat when the witch is coming closer, the way her eyes dart around the house, it's really cool!

I like how the clock in the dinning room changes after you grab a key item or after opening up a new location in the house to explore.

That final chase though. Especially when you break through the door (my dumb ass would have gone for the huge door upstairs). I don't mind the game being short to be honest. It's still great.

Personally, I think this game would have benefitted from a bit more back story from the witch. We were given hints at what her previous life was like (music box, photos) But a few diary pages would have really made this better imo.

The creator is thinking about making a sequel so that's cool

Something funny to think about if ur scared, the witch is the grandma looking for her granddaughter and the “death” scene is the grandma giving them a kiss. The axe is foam and the blood is ketchup Edit: the gnarled face is because the grandma had a stroke

The game is masterfully created, it's so simple but the sound and visual design giving you hints like dark places being hideouts or the items you can interact with being the same color as the girl it's just brilliant, her eyes telling you where there's an item or where the witch sounds to be its amazing game design

The animation in this video-game is a piece of ART! The chasing music was perfect, it created such tension! And the little dinamics of picking up a single object at a time? That was genius! See, this video-game proves that the details is what really make a difference and I loved it! Wish they made more like this, instead of focusing on better 3D graphics...
