Brian, This video was the PERFECT way to begin my Monday morning at the office. Your work to assist this young man and his commitment to adhere to the program are the true miracles that make dentistry and life so worthwhile. The film is beautifully edited and I look forward to hearing about this young man's success in the future. You're definitely one of my heroes! Dr. Bruce
@@BrianHaleDDS how do I find a dentist in my area who specializes in treatment for Tourettes, such as yourself? What type of dentistry is this called and is there a website that can be used to find this type of dentist in my area? Thanks!
I worked with a lady who had a son with Tourettes Syndrome and my daughter has Pots Syndrome so we often got together to give support to one another. My Daughter got Pots Syndrome the year before and he got Tourettes the following year. We both searched google for answers as both these syndromes are rare. Well she found the answer in a Dental Video taken on You Tube and her son had an operation to get his lower jaw aliened and it worked he is cured from severe Tourettes Syndrome by a Dentist in Surrey England . It has been a few years now and he is studying Law. I am still searching for a cure for Pots Syndrome, ED Syndrome and CF Syndrome she has all three and is in a wheelchair. I am very happy for my friend and her son and the world of Tourettes need to have this knowledge his neurologist was astounded at the results. Well done Dentist.
I need so much help. I have suffered for a LONG TIME with tourettes syndrome. I have severe vocal tics and body moving tics. I don't like to even walk anymore outside in other neighborhoods because of what I spout off uncontrollably. saying the most hateful words. It has been dragging me down further and further. i am just so tired and feeling loss of hope.
I have a lot of the same ticks this guy does. Especially the coughing tick. Which I loved out of all of my ticks because people just thought I had a cough. Up until the pandemic. Now it’s a serious issue. People won’t come near me. It gets worse when your nervous especially when your focusing on the ticks. I got really addicted to drugs when I was teen because the Ts was ruining my life. I was home schooled because of it. My ticks were mild until I entered middle school. It got so so bad. For some unknown reason my ticks got better by the time i turned 26-28. No idea why. I still have them but they are much more mild now and more controllable. But it’s still really frustrating and annoying. And it still gets really bad if I’m super stressed out. And sometimes it just gets really bad for no reason. I’ve been contemplating getting medical marijuana. I know that it seemed to help me when I was a teen. But I really don’t want to fall back into old habits. Also I’m torn on wether it violates my faith. I’d rather try this mouth guard thing.
That's good to hear that it calmed down some around 26-28. That's fairly normal. TS is most severe during growth periods of the body. Things that calm the CNS down help reduce TS; such as medical marijuana or a TMJ appliance.
Please may I have some guidance for sharing dental information to the parents of a 12 yr. old boy with Tourette's Syndrome. He is a Canadian boy within a Hutterian Colony. I am his teacher.
Brian, just to get a better idea, do these benefits only come from always wearing this dental guard or does wearing the guard over time allow a person to benefit from it when not wearing it? Is this any different than a custom dental guard made by traditional dentists?
Hi Ari. It is very different than a custom dental guard made by traditional dentists. The benefits only come because of the position and occlusion of the guard; so most people will go into a "Phase 2" to permanently move or fix the teeth to the healthy position. Some people can avoid Phase 2 and wean off of wearing the orthotic.
How would I find someone in my area (Milwaukee, WI ) that offers this exact solution? Any recommendations? Not sure if traveling to you is feasible at this time. FYI, I just emailed your office through your website if you want to reply there. Thx
Dear Brian, great work, my brother has Tourettes as well, and his case is severe, but unfortunately we live in Dubai, how can we get such treatment over here ? as of now it is not available.
Thank you for the kind words Karam. You might need to travel to Europe or North America to get to a GNM trained dentist. Here is a doctor locator map: batchgeo.com/map/ab93500357547df41bb5e83c52ed3c8e

+Brian Hale, DDS So, does this implant affect nonvocal tics? I have tics that I've tried treating with every medication under the sun. In particular I have bad speech, where I have so many tics of vocalizations I can't really speak words. Is this something that affects a nerve or what? How does it help?
Yes, it helps with nonvocal tics. By correcting the bite and posture, this affects the spine, brain stem, and cranial nerves. Basically: putting the body back to it's healthy position allows it to function better.
Here is a link to a locator map that shows dentists who have had the same type of training (GNM) that I have had. See if someone is close to where you live.

Thanks for commenting Slavisa. Fortunately with this type of dentistry (GNM) we are able to objectively document the changes to teeth, jaw position, posture, muscle and CNS response. The video was focused on the human interest aspect of the treatment (his journey) and so the subjective changes were highlighted. GNM is taught at Occlusion Connections. You can read more about GNM at this site: occlusionconnections.com/
