Thank god there are Americans out there that can appreciate something different. Great Reaction you guys! Shum means noise. Shum is also an urban forest spirit that people summon with a ritual (just like the choreo) to bring the spring after a long winter. This song is a call to make some noise so spring can come after a long winter (Covid and Chernobyl). What a great way to represent your country 🇺🇦

This song is the cover to pre-Christian ritual 1000 y.o. pre-Christian spring song🙂 (Ukraine has more then 400000 folksongs, 16000 of them are in UNESCO world treasure list) The meanings of the spring songs is to bring joy and happiness and goods after the dark and cold Winter. The Shum is the pagan God of the Forest, he covers the Winter and waking up the Spring. Children and youth are calling the Spring by singing and dancing. They also start to sowing the seeds of flowers and weeds. That time our people made clothing and furniture from weed. So, the main point is to bring joy after the hard time 🌞

Go_A supposed to represent Ukraine last year with the song Solovey, but then the contest was cancelled. Last year's song wasn't even close to my favorite. This year, when Shum came out I thought Ok, this is better than Solovey, then the revamp was released and I was, Ok, I am digging this... Now after the live performance, I was like: damn, this is so fucking amazing!! And this entry was in my top 3 to win.

Hi, thanks for doing Eurovision reactions. This was my favorite song in this year’s contest. The group GO_A defines their music as “electronic folk” and her way of singing is a traditional way of singing in this part of Europe. According to the singer, she learned from her grandma. ✌️

I loved Ukraine this year, but my vote went to the winner - Italy.

I really loved their look and stage presence. I can't say it's my type of music but it was really cool they sang in their own language and I always love a flute. So def plus points for that! All in all pretty ok IMO. :)

I really, really, really like your enthusiasm in all of your videos. The 2021 Eurovision theme is Open Up and then you're supposed to fill it in yourself. Open Up to different cultures and different styles of music, for example and you guys are doing just that! What I really like about this year's Eurovision: in the top 5 there are 4 songs not in English. Goal of Eurovision (since 1956!) is to unite the continent and people voting for songs in a language they do not understand is just cool. Or as they've said during the show when introducing the interval act for the grand final: music binds us. You guys should just watch both semi finals and the grand final in full on Peacock. Not sure how it works as I'm not American, but I saw other Americans using Peacock footage in their reaction videos if they could not get the Eurovision footage. Open Up and enjoy!
