The GoGos were basically a bubble gum LA group who actually thought they were a punk band, which is quite laughable that their perspective was more wishful than realistic. Delusion is huge amongst Hollywood films too, they go hand in hand trying to capture the other raw talent out there, but miss the mark and don’t get the essence. The GoGos mostly had a sound because of Jane, and that’s it. The wardrobe and hair were weak. They tried at least. I liked the songs, but it’s important to own being a bubblegum band instead of actually thinking ur The Sex Pistols and saying ur a punk band when ur far from it. 😢
@@jeffharder8706 If you watch the 2018 performance on Broadway, when they come out, Kathy and Jane are holding hands and bc is oblivious. Gina looks like she's always sucking up to bc since they first got back together in 1990, and Charlotte and bc have always had a close working relationship. BC probably can't understand Kathy's popularity and resents it.
@@rudolphguarnacci197 Stage behaviour rarely shows how band members treat each other in real life. If you watch some old Deep Purple videos for instance, Gillan and Blackmore had good stage chemistry, yet they didn't exactly get along irl. FWIW when Kathy was promoting her book she said she had been close with each member at different times, so at some point her and Belinda must have been close too. I doubt "resentment" has anything to do with it, it's like with every band that's been around for such a long time, sometimes members get along well, sometimes not that well.
They needed personal wardrobe and good hair ppl. Their style was corny and weak. A stylist with a clue was seriously needed to give them a signature look. They thought they were a punk band. In all honesty, they were an LA bubblegum band who wished they were a punk band. Punk bands were hardcore, rebellious kids from the UK who were retaliating the system, spuing anarchy and such. The GoGos were far from that. Their wishful thinking was delusional. But they were a successful bubblegum band.
I think it's just her schtick if you will, being "the lead singer" and all that. Watch the GoGos interview on Howard Stern, she's far more open and less distant there and at one point even defends Jane when Stern tells her that she was jealous of Belinda getting all the attention.
