Why do kangaroos have pouches? So kangaroos can grow their baby big and strong. The pouch contains four nipples that produce different formulations of milk, with different nutrient amounts to help the Joey grow depending on what stage of growth it is at.
Joey is the word for baby kangaroo.
A kangaroo pouch is not your regular pocket, it's actually a complex nursery that contains everything for a Joey to grow. The pouch is hairless on the inside, and is lined with sweat glands that releases antimicrobial liquid to keep the joey safe from parasites and germs.

as someone who lives in the eastern US, i've never actually remember seeing a realistic kangaroo before, usually i just know basic traits but never thought about these existing irl but that's really neat, ngl
